Why am i always the odd one out?

When i was in secondary school i used to always be different from everybody else, for e.g. Me and my class went to the park, they played on the swings and stuff but I preferred to just stand and look at the grass and breath the air, is that normal?! I also never had detention once in my life, everyone else in the school at least had 3 detentions! Im very sensitive, i love nature, i hate sweets, burgers, pizza, chips, i only liked propper food, i liked paintings which nobody likes and find wierd, i mean comon! I liked a picture with colourful rectangles! Do i have a rare personality? After all my name is Feride which means 'unique' lol. But seriously i always felt left out, i feel like im a puzzle which doesn't fit in...:(

You don't need to fit in if you were meant to stand out :)

And there is nothing wrong with pretty rectangles. Circles... now that is a resentful shape right there

How old are you? This is a site for people 18+, if your class is going to play in the park, I'm guessing you're barely a teen?

"i feel like im a puzzle which doesn't fit in"

Believe me, this sums up how many teenagers feel.

There are plenty of people out there who appreciate the same things you do - it's just finding them. If school isn't providing opportunities, try joining some clubs.

Also consider how you engage with people. Focus on your similarities instead of your differences - for example, maybe someone doesn't like paintings, but they might like the same kind of music as you. Or let's say they like junk food, but they might like 'proper food' too. Focus on what you have in common with people, instead of being preoccupied with the differences.

You can build friendships with people who are different from you :) Just be positive, open, respectful of differences whilst celebrating similarities. But let me reiterate that very few people feel like they truly 'fit in', especially teenagers, so how you feel is pretty normal.

Now your name would make you stand out... But you should really embrace the fact that you're different. When I was a kid I was so different I became popular because I didn't like doing what others did. Now all I strive to do is to be different from the next person. You can even find a career which appreciates this ingenuity.

It's perfectly normal to feel the way you feel. I'm like you. I was different. I'm still different. I think you are a wonderful person, and think many should see things the way you see them. If you feel good being alone, then be alone. If you want to be with others like you then follow the advice posted above. Good luck, and blessed be.
