Who would you want to spend the rest of your entire life with?

*Person 1*
A significant other who you would die with together having known them deeply and completely. In due time you will learn everything about them; their past, secrets, interests, likes, dislikes -- everything. You would eventually know them 100%, many years before your death

OR

*Person A*
A significant other who forever has some mystery about them till the very end, this also means they have a much greater probability to surprise you. You would still know them very well, and way better than anyone else in the world. And you'd also have a very happy and successful relationship just as much as if you were with Person 1. But you would die having never figured them out completely

Person 1 32
Person A 10
I'd be equally as happy with either, but person 1 if I have to choose 10
I'd be equally as happy with either, but person A if I have to choose 15

    Why 1 and A? :/

No matter how much you may think person 1 exists, everyone has secrets. Everyone will become person A.

    • Very interesting theory. Skeptical, but I like it

Person 1. I very much find pleasure in knowing what has, is, and will happen as much as possible. Knowing someone doesn't take away from mystery, it adds mystery. You know 'what' and then wonder 'why'. When those questions are answered, you both grow as individuals. In such an uncertain world, I can find peace in such a union of the minds.

Person A. As long as they weren't dangerous, I would love to have some mystery in the romance. Some excitement.

Person 1. I'm very quiet about my secrets and preferences because I imagine they would turn off any significant other. The idea of me being able to be completely open with someone, and them with me, is a serious turn-on.

    • The urge of just opening yourself with someone is exhilarating and tempting, but you're right, it can be a turn-off. It would suck to read books if revealed everything in chapter 1. I think the key is moderation. Every *worthy* significant out there would love to know about your secrets and preferences, if you let them in little by little.

I'm a curious person by nature but I dated a person once who emotionally let me in little by little. Everytime I learned something, there was another emotional "door" that was locked, and while I tried opening it, I didn't try to break it down. The result = was interested in them for the entirety of the 3 years I knew them :)

It's not the speed of the information I was talking about, it was the nature of it. My stuff can get weird.

Knowing absolutely everything about a person instantly, especially if I'm spending my whole life with them, doesn't bother me in the least. The spice of the relationship wouldn't be in figuring them out, it would be in having a real partner in this world that I can experience everything with.

I'm just fine without mystery in my relationship. However, I sincerely hope that my partner does not die for many, many years after I do.
On the other hand, last time around, I died in the war and her life continued another 40 odd years, which explains the huge age gap between us now. So, if she did die soon after me, it would be a kind of "reset" and next time we'd be nearly the same age again. That would be cool.

1! This is a no brainier. I don't see why mystery should change anything. As much as A might of been the right answer I still choose 1. Not changing my answer to appease anyone.

Doesn't matter either way. Unless person A has some secrets that would be hurtful. Ignorance is not bliss to me.

I'm not a very open person, once in a blue moon I open up and express my feelings but it takes a lot to get me to open up. I think in a relationship I would go with person A just because I don't want to know what my partners thinking at all times. Like I like the idea of being with someone for years and still getting that sense that you barely know them? You're only seeing the tip of the iceberg and you slowly overtime keep uncovering that person and just because you never completely find out who they are, you know that you're completely in love with them, that deep down in that part you can't pick at and get them to open up about you know, your love has reached it. You know they let you in when they shut everyone out.

    Which would you choose OP?

    • Why, how nice of you to ask. And that was such a lovely description too. Marry me? Though you might want to keep your last name because Fall_Anonymous doesn't have a nice ring to it. So, nevermind *quickly snatches back ring*

Tough to answer my own question, especially since I *am* Person A. My brain has a few theories why Person 1 would be the best fit for me...

Nevertheless, my heart has always chosen Person A. I think this has a small part to play in why I respect another's privacy and secrets so much. But if after 20 years of being with someone, I could learn something about them, for me that is so much more valuable than the comfort of knowing them thoroughly.

I would marry you on two conditions, I get the left side of the bed and you have to put the toilet seat back down after you pee.

Yes that's completely it, person A is someone that you can grow with, there's always something new to discover about eachother.
