Who would you save?

READ FIRST

If there was a situation in which one of them would live and the rest would die(a painless death), which one would you save?

These are the choices-

Which would you SAVE? Unfortunately, the rest would die.

A) A twenty-something who has had it rough. Never had a good day, always been depressed/ill. Got sick as a child, had to be hospitalized on and off for years. Lost their Mother at age 11 from cancer. They developed cancer at 18 and fought for several years and are now finally freed of it for the first time/finally have chance at a good life and they're optimistic for the future. They are also going to attend uni and get their education.

B) A newborn baby that is predicted to lead a healthy life with no early deaths in the family or any health struggles. It is known that they will not further their education.

C) An elderly woman who fell into a coma 13 years ago as a result of someone jumping her, murdering her husband at the time and is now 80 but just awoke for the first time.

Which one would you save?

I'd save A 33
I'd save B 20
I'd save C 0
Let them all die 12
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I would save Person A for the sheer fact that they have already endured life and are already set to live a good life and get an education.

As much as I would like to save the baby, who is the say that the baby will develop the character that Person A has developed? Maybe he will. Maybe he won't. The 80 year old has already lived a full life. Let her be.

Nothing about person A makes me think they have gotten over the trauma of their past. They could easily slip into depression again or fall into more bad luck such as being put in this dilemma of who to save. I feel terrible for them but instincts tell me to save the baby. Formal education is over rated. I also feel terrible for the old woman who finally wakes up only to die.

Can I also kill of the person who is making these two people die for no reason?

I'm a selfish person, so I would save none of them. Why? Because I think that there is more regret in letting two people die knowingly because I chose to save one of them. If all of them die, I could theoretically fool myself into believing that I had no choice in the matter.

Could I choose to sacrifice myself so that no one would die? I couldn't decide their fate, regardless of the situations, even if it would be painless. I would be forever tormented over that choice.

I would save the baby. Working in Freight out at the airport we had to send human remains across the country, so coffins would rock up for lodgement. It was so sad loading the small ones.

I think I would naturally feel compelled to save the baby. I would probably save the one in the closest proximity to me, the easiest one for me to save. So honestly, there's no telling, it's all up to chance really.

    The baby.

You could have came up with a better hypothetical person for C. Who is gonna save an old woman who just lost their husband? Letting her die would be an act of mercy or even kindness. Might as well have left that option out.
