Who is she?

Well I sleep with a bright yellow night light and when my night light broke I only had a dim blue night light, so I placed it closer to my bed. That night I saw a girl by my bed, she was taller than my sister but shorter than my mom, she looked like the girl from the grudge and she was telling me something and I was answering her( till this day I cant remember what she said), I didn't feel any thing, I wasn't scared or anything, just tired so I turned around facing the wall.. That same night I tossed and turned and saw that girl by my bed everytime I turned... I probably turned to that direction about 5 times because I talked to her about 3 times.. When daylight hit I felt like I never got any sleep, like I've stayed up all night.. Is this normal? Has this ever happened to some one else?

I've got the answer to your question.

Once, not too long ago, I was awoken in the middle of the night because I couldn't breathe. I felt something watching me. I opened my eyes and felt a cold pressure gripping my throat. There was a large dark figure sitting on my chest laughing. In a gurgled voice, all I could say is "Where are you?" I know that doesn't make sense, but i was half asleep. As soon as I spoke, the figure jumped off of me, and swiftly glided around my bed and towards the door. I still get shivers when I think about it. This really happened. I really turned the lights on and I really laid awake in horror for the rest of the night. I went to a Church and bought a St. Benedict's medal and had it blessed. I leave it by my bedside. The ghoul never returned.

I later found out the true cause of this visitation. My girlfriend, the only person I trusted enough to share the story with, came to me and told me about sleep paralysis. Sleep Paralysis is a condition that 50%% of college students get at least once, but they are a mere minority of the other people that get such terrors. Sleep Paralysis is when the part of the brain that controls muscle movement is still asleep, but the rest of the brain is awake. This causes a sense of panic, and it many cases, the hypnagogic state of the person causes them to hallucinate a terrible figure sitting on them or beside them, and usually occurs when sleeping supine. This condition is called "The Old Hag" and many other colloquialisms. Before modern medicine, this was commonly attributed to demonic visits, succubi, and presently alien abduction.

The main causes of Sleep Paralysis are stress and irregular sleep schedule. It is exacerbated by sleeping on one's back. This is a normal happening that has happened to countless people over the centuries. You are normal, and healthy, you just had a rough day. ;)

BUT-- you felt the classic 'someone sitting on your chest', and 'not being able to breathe or move'... the poster did not say that.

  • I'm gonna have to say, WOODSMAN seems to know the most about it! The first comment seems more relevant to you though. However, i'm kinda scared about having that sleep paralysis thing tonight cause I know it'd scare the crap out of me no matter that I know about it xD

My friends had a haunted house so they hired specialist.

they put BLUE LIGHTS all over the house so that they could see the ghosts.

I suspect that a) you were dreaming or b) that girl has always been there, but you haven't been able to see her with out the blue light.

She is a beneficent spirit possibly bound to the house where you are living, but I feel she is someone who passed when you were very young, perhaps an infant.
The next time before you go to bed, spend some time sitting with your eyes closed and imagine yourself surrounded by a clear white light, silently repeating: "Only love or endearment may come to me."
    Sleep in comfort and peace.

I do believe in spirits, but this time I think it was a type of dream like that other guy said. The blue light probably played with the shadows a bit and in your dream state you probably opened your eyes and saw a figure from the light. You mind would take that and run with it especially in the dreamy state of sleep. You're normal and healthy. Don't worry.

i think you are schizophrenic. not a bad thing, but weird. it would be awesome if you had some psycho other personality like a tyler durden or something.

Did you eat anything weird before you went to sleep? Maybe everytime you saw her you were really dreaming and it only seemed real? Or maybe there is some deeper significance to her appearance. Maybe it was an angel, or a demon, or a ghost. Could have been anything but it's definitely not normal.

I've had this kind of situation when I was around 8 years old. Whenever I sleep on a certain bed on a certain side. I see some creature like Godzilla or something and I talk to him and he grabs my arm I even felt his furry palm over my skin everytime. I've always thought it's just that kind of dreams that you feel you keep having over and over.

That's pretty scary i have to admit. Or maybe Mr. Darkbloom is right. I'm guessing so too, it's only surreal. It's your subconcious mind that's playing with you. I know it's so real but really now, the grude? hihi.. sounds really funny.

It's a normal. Most likely it was a hypnagogic dream/state. Google it, its very common. The first time it happened to me I thought I was going crazy, but it all makes sense now.
