    I have a hard time believing someone would get banned unless they specifically broke the rules that are clearly listed when posting a new topic.

    Also on most forums, one doesn't usually get banned unless they are true spammers OR someone decides to argue with the moderators.

    I think getting banned deletes your stuff and disabling marks it as old memories.

      but then there's also shadowbanned where they disable your account but leave all your previous comments and username on, you just can't do anything with it anymore.

        Yes. When you see [Old Memory] it means the user has deleted his own account. Shadow banned users see their own comments, but nobody else can see any of their comments past the shadow banned date.

          I’m not sure that’s true because I have never requested any of my past accounts to be deleted but some of them show as [Old Memory] too.

      Their name appears as Old Memory. If not banned they deleted their account.

        Did they identify as OP? I didn't see the post.

        Only person I know who got banned recently (and unjustly), had all his comments deleted. I assumed the "old memory" bullshit was for people who asked for their accounts to be disabled. But I have nothing but assumptions to base that on.

          He's saying there was a story posted on here and a couple hours later one of the commenters (not OP) on that story was listed as the [Old Memory]. I thought that also meant disabled account, but some banned accounts are also listed as that. Plus, it was a user who's (kind of?) a troll so it seems less likely he'd ask to have it disabled.

          edited out some things after checked their post history, may not be the person I was thinking of

            It surprises me that he was a troll. His last? post seemed to imply that he left because of trolls and users falling for them. He said something about most of the posts on here being trolls now.

              I don't know him that closely but I've seen the name around for at least a couple years in variations, and he reminds me of another user I know has been here about that long. Some of what he said was too much but others was pretty funny, overall seemed like an ok guy.
              And I use the word "troll" as loosely as it's been used on me in the past. Basically, just anyone who doesn't have common beliefs and isn't afraid to offend people, is considered a troll on here.
              I didn't think the account was deleted, since it happened only hours after his last post. Management don't usually work that fast (or at all).
