Who fault is it anyway?

This will ruffle a few feathers I'm sure. We've all seem and heard it. The old saying "Police, Stop or I'll shoot" or some version of that, so who's at fault when they shoot, the one that didn't stop or the one that shoots. In Spain if I hear an alarm or police say that, then we're going to stop in our tracks or expect to get shot. If you run they figure you must be guilty and if your not why run?

I don't know about that, but I hate the phrase "Freeze! Don't move! Put your hands on your head!" It's stupidity at it's finest...

Madafaka, do you want me to get hypothermia, not move, or put my hands on my head?! I can't do all 3 at once! Make up your goddamn mind!

Not sure about spain but in the US cops are people who are too dumb incompetent lazy and violent to get a real job so they decide to devote their lives to protecting the property of rich people. Its not always their fault when they shoot somebody but they never get held accountable for their crimes so they shoot way more people than necessary because they know they'll get away with it. Basically, ACAB.

How about pay the police more and increase the standards?

Saying just fuck them isnt gonna solve problems.

You'd be just as successful turning MS13 into a useful commumnity organization. The entire police system intentionally keeps standards and accountability as low as possible.

Now Ill even admit a lot of these times where some mentally ill person with a knife gets shot by cops its a direct result of bad training or lack of how to actually de-escelate a situation. That's a problem. Cops don't understand de-escalation and instead tend to do the opposite to provoke a response so they can arrest/shoot the person. Cops don't exist to protect you, they protect the government and the wealthy from everybody else.

But nobodys seriously talking about police lack of accountability (the actual problem) and instead are focusing on the cops being racist (a symptom of the actual problem) which prevents anything from changing. Cops aren't specifically targeting black people, they're targeting vulnerable marginalized people in general. Live in your car for a week no matter what race you are and come back and tell me how safe the cops make you feel.

MS13 are a pack of bloodthirsty savages that are better served as mulch than as people.

Comparing cops to them dosent serve your point at all. Since cops dont murder everyone that crosses their presence.

Cops have to make split second decisions of life and death on top of being paid shit wages. I'd fix the cops by giving higher standards thus higher wages. Better training aids and better equipment (body armor and martal arts)

You're dealing with an "ACAB" person, Asher. Who is paradoxically normally a person who can't comprehend why we need a police force and is probably the exact kind of person who needs them the most.

You won't win here. You're talking to a turkey who loves thanksgiving.

It serves the point completely. I've met one or two actual gang members that were pretty decent if you knew them on a personal level. Gangs don't kill everyone that crosses their path, actualy organized criminal groups have a history of doing community service work so the community leaves them alone. Look at Capone, or Escobar. Both of them spent a large amount of money feeding hungry people, Escobar built schools and libraries. Doesn't make them good people, and it doesn't make me want their crimnal gangs hanging around my neighborhood

Cops are the same, they're a violent gang of thugs. Cops in my area make a comfortable living and they spend a ridiculously bloated budget on weapons they have no justification for having. Paying them more wont increase standards. Eliminating their unions and actually charging them with crimes they commit would increase standards.

Here's a nice fact, only 15 states have specific laws that say a detained person can't consent to sex with the officer detaining them. This means in 35 states a cop can literally detain and rape you and if the case actually goes to court (which is unlikely) the cop can argue consent as a defense.

Cops are useless now anyway. I like what they're trying to do in Florida, pass a law that allows citizens to shoot looters and rioters.

It's a sad day when and if cops are held to a self defense standard. They can no longer function to defend public safety, and yes if that's the standard then you might as well figure your protection is your problem. It is not someone else's responsibility.

The riots are being intentionally started by agents of the state as a smokescreen for how shitty the pigs are, so that's a seperate issue.

    The one that didn’t stop.

If they are clearly told what will happen and they willingly ignore it then they chose it, nothing else to it.

Spain sounds like a lovely place. One thing I would be concerned about though would be the staring. I've heard online that it's common for people to just unabashedly stare at others, and I honestly can't stand that sort of thing.

It's a part of their culture, people watching... that's why outdoor cafes are so popular. Here, you get shot for looking at the wrong person.

Yeah, I don't like it if someone is obviously staring at me, it freaks me out.

The problem you have in America is most Americans are too stupid to understand it’s your gun laws that cause the problem in the first place. Here in UK hardly anyone is allowed to own a gun and for those that do there are very strict policies about what you can shoot with it and how it is stored. Although there are problems with people owning guns illegally it is a tiny minority compared to how many criminals run around with guns across the pond. Because it is less of a problem most police don’t carry guns so they don’t have the opportunity to shoot people on a whim. Even the ones that are armed have very strict conditions about discharging their weapon. If someone is killed there is a major investigation regardless of whether or not the dead person was carrying their own weapon as well.
