I think women would be criticized more just because society expects the worse out of men. Like when I was growing up, if a man had a lot of sexual partners he was a player, and was the man. But if it was a woman she was a slut or hoe. If you think about the way they portray hookers vs Johns, it says alot about our society.

Make prostitutes are usually gay, or at least looking for males to pay for services. Women don't really need to pay for sex.

Absolutely true, but there a show that comes on HBO where women were seeing male prostitutes. It was set in Vegas. There was a whole group of them. But like you said most male prostitutes are gay

god, thank you! I asked that question because recently I have seen many videos that annoy me. Here is one of them: http://youtu.be/bWxT08QfRUw
Looks like this videos are the trend now.
I hate When They made this kind of pranks. It's disrespectful and humiliating to women. I mean, I'm not approving her for accepting but what I'm saying is Probably many men out there would do the same -_-. that's why this irritates me a lot because I've seen lots of videos like this. not all women are the same bitches interested in money, nor THE ONLY ONES that would accept doing it. so STOP WITH THAT SHIT!

On the other hand, I know that men are more criticized on other things, than women... I'm not being a feminist who only wants to defend women just because "yes". I'm just saying it's stupid

It's very stupid. Most men wouldn't need to be offered a dime. A beautiful face and a hot body would be all it would take. But like I said society has a false perception of how women should act. It wouldn't be shocking if this video was targeting men, but since it's women it gives shock value. People know men won't be able to resist, but they think women should be innocent angels.

There was an IIN question recently about a man paying women for sex. Nobody criticised the women - the comments were either non judgemental of both parties, or criticised the man exclusively, mainly for 'being desperate' or 'risking STIs'. I repeat - no criticism whatsoever directed at the female prostitutes.

We're more likely as a society to see female prostitutes as victims, and female users of prostitutes as victims too. Male prostitutes aren't seen as victims, and male users of prostitutes are usually demonised.

So although the safest bet is that somebody will be criticised, not sure the generalisation that it's always the woman rings true.

Yeh yeh whatever. And if you personally knew a man and a woman who were respectively interested in doing a bit of hooking...then the story might be different. It's a dangerous job for a woman, not so much for a man - so you should worry about/criticise the woman more on the grounds of safety. And a man can probs in some circles get away with saying he gets paid to fuck - I even knew someone who knew someone who did a magazine article on being a gigolo and apparently he was exaggerating in the interview as well. Pretty much no-one will accept a woman bragging about being a hooker unless she talks about it anonymously. She can't do it and be accepted into society.

I was saying it isn't true that women are exclusively criticised in situations where sex is exchanged for money, which is what pastor's comment implied.

Even you yourself proved it isn't true - below, in your comment:
"I would be very critical of a man paying for female prostitutes and not so critical of a woman paying for male prostitutes. "

That's you, being more critical of men paying for sex than women paying for sex.

So I'm trying to work out what your point is, and why you keep challenging what I say, even when it appears we're on the same page? 'Yeah yeah whatever' ... It's kind of tedious having to explain myself to you over and over again.

Ok so I answered this from the view of someone paying for sex rather than from the prostitute's view as I misread the question. But I'd still like to keep up my comment.

Sorry people but this is my opinion: I would be very critical of a man paying for female prostitutes and not so critical of a woman paying for male prostitutes.

My reasons: women in the sex industry are largely there because of abuse/trauma/trafficking and they need to be looked after and given help - not all though, some love the job like in the Nevada whore house I saw on Stephen Fry's documentary about America. Also that belle du jour woman enjoyed it too apparently. But those are in the minority. Male prostitution I think is more by choice rather than because of trauma or sex trafficking, not that that doesn't happen but I think it's more likely heterosexual male prostitutes have options (to do more conventional work) and choose to work in prostitution because they enjoy it.

      http://www.humanityinaction.org/knowledgebase/369-just-business-the-unknown-world-of-male-prostitution-in-the-netherlands

Section three, plus it mentions in section one that due to stigma, they are less likely to seek help when victimised.

Its entirely possible that the number of incidences are higher, because they are not reported/discovered.

Im in no way say that female prostitutes are not stigmatised as that obviously is the case, but that the situation a male prostitute may find himself in also has potential to be just as bad.

Thanks for the link. I didn't want to comment on gay male prostitution because I didn't know much about it but my assumption was that there would be a lot more problems for gay male prostitutes (like getting into it because of abuse, feeling abused by doing it) than for heterosexual male prostitutes. I guess there isn't much call for heterosexual male prostitutes though.
