its completely normal. would you be concerned if someone was attracted only to blondes(ick,,, no offense to anyone) or men with black hair? no. and no one gets upset when someone says tey are attracted to men of their own race. what is not normal is racism. there is no justification to be racist. (attraction to those of your own race is not the same as HATE for those who arent) and lastly, if your father and step father cant accept you and wish for you what makes you happy, then why the hell would you care about what makes them happy especially when their reasoning is something ignorant and shouldnt be accepted by anyone. if anything maybe you should disown them, regardless of whether or not u end up with a black man, a white man or a man who is polka-dotted with rainbow sripes down his back. racist people should be ostracized from our societies, and confined to an island where they can wallow in their hate and die. :) but please do consider that you MAY be doing it out of spite, and if so thats not cool. and also, physical attraction is not everything. i prefer latin men and black men, but if i found a great white man, who shared my ideals and was a good person, id go for it (even if he was a yucky blonde)... dont sell yourself short based on superficial things which really dont mean anything. but always do what will make you happy in life, as long as you are not endangering yourself or others, its no ones business what you choose to do

I think it is normal. My little sister is engaged to a black guy. She has 3 bi-racial children. My parents at first was really racist my father more than my mother. All she has dated is black men. When my sis had her first child(a girl) that is what changed my fathers heart. His grandchildren.

I agree that you like black guys because you are trying to be different than your racist parents. You should look past colour and date who you like. Move away if you are living in a small-minded community or your family will aggressively interfere with who you want to date. They need to get into the 21st Century.

i had that problem with my dad when i was younger, im latina and i hav only black friends pretty much and only dated black guys my dad forced me 2 break up with my bpyfriend back then but i stand up to him and told him weather he like it or not he might have a black grandchild on day:) he was mad at me but he relize im my own person and i will do what i want to do

My dear, you like what you like. I know that racism shouldn't be tolerated, but individuals should not be taken into account because of a race as a whole. You may never receive that acceptance that you want from your family. I know of similar families, and amazingly, once grandchildren are involved (don't get pregnant for this sole purpose), people really tend to soften.
