Whispering while reading

You know how when you read, you have a little voice in your head(Not in a literal, psychotic way, but you know...)? Sometimes, as I'm reading, certain words trigger something where what I'm reading is a whisper for a while before eventually going back to reading "normally". Again, I don't actually hear it, I simply conceive the words as if they're being whispered. The one word I remember that triggers it is "Outside". Is this normal?

  • In kinder through 4th grade I encourage my students to whisper aloud as they read. It helps with comprehension.

I don't know, that really doesn't sound like something that happens all the time. Maybe you should talk to someone more knowledgable in the subject?
