I live in the Netherlands we have some of those shows, my favourite ones are:
-History Channel
-National Geographic
-Animal Planet
-Discovery Channel
-Comedy Central (only when there's shows like South Park or Family Guy on though).
BBC America. Or I suppose, had I lived in England, the BBC.
Whatever has Doctor Who and Sherlock on it.
IFC deffinetly its and awesome channel but if cartoon network/adult swim was to take off family guy then id say they were but tell then nope
The HUB because Ponies and Cartoon Network because Adventure Time
Television is pretty much going to shit.
My favorites:

-Food Network
-The Learning Channel
-Discovery Health
-Discovery
-History Channel
-Cartoon Network
-VH1
-The Weather Channel
edit to add: KOFY TV, KRON 4, TV 36, KTVU Channel 2, Russian Tv (RTV)
The "off button" network.
it's available 247 and on any system ever made.
seriously i stopped watching regular tv ... o wow, 8 years ago.
the tv here is hooked up to a dvd player and a console game system.
instead of networks i just watch what i want on dvd or online.
Discovery was, but now they quit showing The Universe to make room for stupid fucking "reality" shows. ftw
Discovery channel is pretty cool in my opinion. I don't watch TV often really, but I check out BBC documentaries online on occasion.
There is this one BBC doc called After Life: The Strange Science of Decay. If you like science related things, I would recommend it.
Currently, I've been watching the Bio channel a lot more lately. If I had a second choice, it would be TLC. Discovery is alright sometimes too. And I used to have a thing for the lifetime channel but thats been pretty lame these days.
Discovery, Travel, History... I like to educate myself.
Oh, and the History Channel too.
Comedy central. It has tosh.0, it's always sunny, the daily show, colbert report, workaholics. I don't watch tv all the time, but when i do i prefer dos equis.......shit...i mean i prefer comedy central.
