Which substance is more dangerous to society; marijuana or alcohol? Leave the legality of each out. I'm aware one is legal and one is not.

I would take this opportunity to point out that "society" is merely an abstraction, an idea, and that there are only individuals. But I won't do that. Instead I'll just say that alcohol generally causes more harm than marijuana. That said, alcohol is also capable of doing a lot of good.
If you want to know of a drug that will get you out of there but isnt as harmful as alcohol,weed,lsd,tobacco,etc,etc...then shrooms is what youv'e been missing out on.Shrooms are not harmful.People might say they are but they actually have health benefits

Alcohol has done a lot of damage on society, however if you're a moderate drinker there is some benefits I've heard. As far as weed is concerned I've never tried it so I wouldn't know, but I do know it has more benefits if it is ingested rather than smoked. I've heard it lasts longer and it doesn't affect your lungs if you ingest it rather than smoke it.
Alchyohol kills people while weed has not killed a single person. Therefore Alchohol is worse and more addicting

Weed in my opinion is for dirty little teenagers who think they are cool. They think there amazing because they get stoned! Why pay money to sit there monged out eating all the food in the house? Scum of the earth!
A little bit of weed or Alcohol never killed anyone. Its obsessive use that kills.
I assume you mean the effects on health, job loss, family problems and violence/injuries/deaths? Health, obviously alcohol is worse. Job loss, who knows? Could be weed, that plus the fact that a lot of smokers can't even get a job in the first place. They're equal there IMO. Alcohol probably causes more family problems but weed causes problems too.
Violence/injuries and deaths is a tough one just because weed is illegal and the illegal drug trade obviously claims lots of victims. So...untill it's legal, you can't completely discount that factor in evaluating it's effects on society. Of course if it was legal and sold safely then I'd imagine the crime surrounding it would fall directly in line with crime surrounding the trade of any other legal drug-not non-existant, but still present. Obviously alcohol would take first place in accidents and family violence.
lol i doubt many people get hurt or killed over a couple grams of weed lol
Oh, then there's also the problem of people who are on probation, parole or being supervised by DHS-those people can't use ANY intoxicants, legal or not. So...if they fail drug tests, obviously they go back to jail/prison or in the case of DHS, can't see thier kids. So...that affects society in general whether weed is legal or not, as it will NEVER be ok for those people in those situations to use it. It's FAR from problem-free.
The thing that kills most people is tobacco, which is over eleven times as dangerous as alcohol.

Tabbaco causes people to die useually when they are retired so its actually good for society. Alcohol causes allot of stupid deaths, but all marijuana does is maybe make some people late for work. It really depends on how you define "damage"
