had a post on here before and deleted it. So I changed it up a bit because someone had gotten a little cranky on the list I had before. But which rock/metal genre do you prefer to listen to if you had to choose from the list?

So you named progressive metal, but you didn't name progressive rock? What the hell?
I'd vote for Punk Rock, but I've found a better one.
Electronical Rock.
Try Celldweller, Blue Stahli or Voicians, they're the best around.
Post-Hardcore all the way and of course Metalcore, Nu Metal, (Melodic) Death Metal etc. basically all kinds^^
Used to like progressive stuff, now more avant garde metal/rock.

Punk, metalcore and nu-metal hold places dear to my heart, although contemporary punk is increasingly prevailing. I love any music that is lyrically intelligent and well-observed, not necessarily politically-minded although I very much like that side of things as well.
My favourite bands at the moment are:
- The Wonder Years (punk/pop-punk, incredibly intelligent lyrics about topics including homelessness, depression and social-awkwardness)
- Motionless In White (metalcore with horror movie references and a rich vocabulary of words)
- Lostprophets (mainstream "post-grunge" music; I was at a Lostprophets show just a few hours ago and I was very entertained).
I chose progressive metal. I love my Dream Theater. However I also love black metal, folk metal, and death metal
I like all sorts of rock. My favorites are 60s and 70s classic, 90's, industrial and Neue Deustch Harte, or New German Hardness.
Don't really have a preference I like all kinds. 90s numetal, groove metal, progressive, thrash.
I don't really like anything that's called "core." Seems to be the term for most of the popular modern metal and it's trash.
Out of this bunch I'd take either progressive or industrial. I voted industrial because I'd take aggressive, abrasive music over progressive generally, and I love electronic music.
