If I didn't have taste, I'd probably eat healthier. Not that I eat too badly anyway, but eating healthy would be so much either. "Fancy a slice of cake?" "No thanks, I can't even taste it. I'll be in the corner eating broccoli". I'd actually consider voluntarily giving up taste. Sex and kissing would be a bit less fun, but not by much seeing as you can still feel touch.
Although that depends on whether it's the taste of the food or the feeling of food in the stomach and the blood sugar that makes you feel good. I have no idea which it is so it's probably a bit of both, in which case it might not make as big a positive difference as I hoped.
All the other senses are great, but I have a love-hate relationship with taste :P
Such a hard call. At first I'm like oh smell, all those other ones seem pretty important, I mean except for taste. But smelling has such a strong link to your memories it just seems to good to pass up. I love music, but I also love food, and I don't think I could just eat rubber for the rest of my life be happy, so I would give up hearing. Touching and vision are essential for my safety and I maybe some silence would be good.
As odd as this may sound, hearing. I think that living in total silence would be comforting because then I could never tell when people were laughing at me or making fun of me. And even though I love music, I feel like I could live without it. Also, I think learning and communicating with sign language would be an interesting experience. I could probably express myself better with sign language anyway since I am no good at communicating with spoken words(despite my eloquence with the written word).
However, the one sense that I absolutely could not live without is sight. I am such a visual person that all of my hobbies - sewing, drawing and video games - revolve around needing eyesight. I know that people can live just fine without being able to do those things, but I would miss them so much that it would be almost painful.
Smell since it wont be that noticeable. Being blind means I can not work, I can not function and the one things Im good at like art will become impossible. I do not want to lose hearing since I have a bad memory and do not want to learn sign language. Taste I suppose I could lose but I will lose the joy of eating food. Touch in fact some people are born without this and they injure them selves a lot. So its very dangerous to not be able to feel anything. I did lose my sense of taste for a short period when I burnt the tip of my tongue. It just tingles when it hurt my tongue. I still ate it just did not taste anything.
Smell. Music is too much a part of my life to loose hearing. Vision I wouldn't want to live without my vision. I like food to much to loose taste. I cook a lot so loosing touch would lead to fingers missing and of course other reasons for not wanting to loose touch ;)
