My girlfriend is from Newcastle but she never had the accent, thank God. I hate it. Can't stand it. Liverpool is horrible. Cockney makes me wanna chunder and the posh London accent is just so generic. That's what all the Americans think English people sound like.

Out of the ones you said, I like the Manchester accent only cause of Roary the racing car and it's the only one I can do.
I'm not fond of any of them though, really.

I guess you're making the point about there not being an actual "English" accent like everyone thinks but rather lots of extremely diverse ones, some so different that they can't be understood by people who've spoken English all their lives. We do the same thing, though. We think there's an Aussie, an American, a South African, and an Irish accent but there is no single accent for each country. Anyway, that's that point overly laboured. Now the next...

You've lumped Manchester under the heading "scouse". If it'd have been any other Mancunian but me reading this, you'd have all-out nuclear war going on now. You got lucky in that I really like the Scousers. I've supported their football team since I was about five. But we're not them. We're Mancs! And we are proud!

Finally, a Geordie accent on a girl is enough to make me propose marriage. Same as a South Walian accent (I could listen to Joanna Page read a shopping list and never be bored). The Brum accent is funny. Cockney is annoying if it's too much. And cut glass can be really something special when people unexpectedly swear in that accent. I have a friend who is so posh even the queen doesn't understand her, and hearing her swear is a joy I cannot begin to describe to someone who hasn't experienced it. It's like having your private bits submerged in warm honey! You know it's wrong and it's going to make a mess, but it just feels so good.

So the upshot is, cut glass for when they're swearing, Geordies for all other times.

P.S. That honey thing? Honestly, don't try this at home!

P.P.S. Do it at the mall instead.

I think the only one they say wanker about is when they are referring to masturbators of the lowest order. It's something to do with screwing pigs. Not quite sure. We don't do it here. Have fun, though!

Sounds very typical, but the Etonian/ Oxbridge accents are sooo fit. When teamed w/ blonde floppy hair, green eyes and being a rower. I'm very picky ;)

I think strong southern accents are cute, but only when the person that has it is a sweetie. But I can't for the life of me resist a cajun or jamiaican accent... *drool*

    Yorkshire is the best accent.

Manchester is not a Scouse accent. Manchester's accent is not as distinctive as the other northern English accents. In fact, I'm not even sure if you can say that there is such a thing as a Manchester accent.

You seem to have listed all the city accents. There are regional ones as well such as West Country, Lancashire, Staffordshire.
