Honestly, I feel like that part of me is dead since I left my ex. He was primarily a verbally, and emotionally abusive person. He was super nice in the beginning, almost too nice initially.

I just don't have the energy, or inclination for that sort of thing anymore, or at least for now. Being alone with my Siamese cat, and dreaming of eventually getting us a Shetland Sheepdog, or a Golden Retriever sister for him has me quite content at this time. Before I was with my ex I abstained from dating for over seven years. When dating seems more like a chore, and dealing with another human being feels like a burden it's best to just enjoy being single, and solitary. I'm not entirely alone, I have my feline companion, and my family. Having a romantic companion isn't everything. I feel oddly liberated in my status as a single person. I am beholden to no one except my elderly parents, and this little cat. I can't miss something I don't want. This feels very natural to me.
