    Soft rock. Needs to be
    - sad (I don't like happy music)
    - not too heavy
    - the singer should sing, not scream

I'd say my favorite genres are anything hardcore influenced, electronic, metal, indie rock/pop, experimental (the weirder, the better), alternative hip hop (strictly), Japanese pop, and hard rock.

  • Anything that sounds good to me, I don't limit myself by genre. Generally though it's hip hop, rock, funk or trip hop.

Nice to find someone else who likes trip hop. I was beginning to think I was the only person left on the planet who still liked it.

      • I've been getting into it lately (mostly Massive Attack and some of Bjork's stuff) and it's pretty good to relax to. It is a bit of an acquired taste though.

You always amaze me, joe. You get through the genres like no-one else I know.
I reckon you're just an open-minded guy who loves his music.

      • I love it. Mr. Scruff, Quantic, Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation are all excellent.

Also what do you mean 'still' like it? I'm only 16 and I can see trip hop is moving into new and exciting places all the time, fusing elements of multiple genres from around the world... =D

Mr Scruff is from my neck of the woods. Seen him live more times than I can remember. Nice bloke. I always think the heyday of trip hop was when Portishead were big. And you had Tricky and Massive Attack as well as, on the more poppy side, Morcheeba and Sneaker Pimps. But there was also Lamb out there, and Whale - who I just loved.

I moved from trip hop into acid dub and blunted beatz like Monk&Cantella or rapcore like Asian Dub Foundation and Propellerheads who did a lot of hip hop crossovers. But then I came back to trip hop. I love it as a style. Never heard of Quantica but I should check it out. Either way, I reckon you and joe have great taste in music.
