Which generation do you think has had a better life?

Did the older generations or newer generations have it better regarding how they were raised, technology at the time, and just life in general?

The Older Generation 32
The Newer Generation 29

You need to be more specific about which generations you are talking about...

I get so nostalgic for the days before the invention of penicillin. All them zany people running around with late stage syphilis. Life was good back then.

Rose-tinted spectacles are shite. Right now is the greatest ever time to be alive. Information technology gives you the world at your fingertips. Healthcare/science and longevity have never been better. Opportunities for everyone are better than they have ever been.

There has ALWAYS been a golden age about fifty years before now. Fifty years ago the golden age was fifty years before that. There is graffiti in Pompeii and in the pyramids to support this. It is human nature to look back and remember JUST the good stuff.

The obesity rates are going up and more hackers/expoiters,and there are kids sitting at home online dating on their computers and or never going outside to play even on sunny days.im from new generation and even I kinow that the new generation is 50/50 full of crap. I meen, look at all these fast food places evry were! And those "online books" are ao stupid, i meen just get your lazy ass up and go to the library to get a book because it costs same way as it does online plus that bttery will run out! PLUS iphones re taking up ALOT more energy than you think. I dont know the exact amount but i heard its ALOT. Plus bak then (even tho i wasnt born bak then when ppl disnt care about computers) the kids were bored, they would go outside and so SOMETHING or even draw or just SONETHING im serious this generation is so lazy and fat we have evrythibg done for us when in the 1800's kids had to pick cotton and wake up at 5am just to milk the cows, tend the chiken, clean horse poop and do thibgs today we call 'labor' or 'child abuse' but back then that was very common.

I think the newer generation is doomed.

The newer generations have always been better and had better lives. We have new things, both to rejoyce and worry about. Its quite difficult to say. the older generation had less knowledge of the world(ignorance is bliss), which would be quite an advantage. Theres good and bad sides to everything. Right now, we have all the bad stuff that the old folks above me described, but back then, there was less infomation on everything. We are more educated now, mor lectured. No STDS, my ASS! Just becasue there was no name for it doesnt mean it wasnt real. I wouldnt like to live in that information-absent, ignorant, self-inverted world where you cant decide what to do, because you act like everyone does. Where you can do bad things because they havent been named yet.

The baby boomers. Jobs every! Popping out kids like crazy that everyone had the means to take care of. When everything was prosperous before everyone started getting laid off and the economy slowly declined.

The problem I see with this generation is the equation of overpopulation and a digital future. We are already seeing grass roots businesses closing down, they have machines at supermarkets where you self serve, travel agents are going, video stores, bookstores, etc. That's just to name a few. The physical business world is disappearing, more of it is going online which normally means less staff are required to run a business. When you take into account how rapidly the world's population is increasing, the equation just doesn't add up. Where are the jobs going to be? Sure those who are in the IT field have an advantage but it doesn't leave room for much else.

Personally, I would've loved to have been born in 1947. Right after the war. Means being young in the 60's where there was free love no STDS, great rock music and innovation. To be part of the cultural revolution that changed the world. To have witnessed Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles or Pink Floyd live. I'm an old soul and I like life in its physical form, face to face communication and culture. This modern digital world feels so soulless and social media seems only to promote shameless self promotion and commercialism. We have become completely preoccupied with the machines in our lives.

    It just isn't that simple.
My parent's generation was an incredibly successful generation, but they had two real wars (that killed millions, not thousands) that thinned out their ranks considerably. My generation got an excellent free education (our high school education was better than what most of you can get in college these days), but with the threat of nuclear annihilation, we had much less desire to do more than live for today, so we became the first generation in history that didn't do better than our parents.
Your generation can only get a moderately good education which leaves you unprepared and unable to find decent employment and with a 6 figure debt before you get your first real job. You are more "connected" with less opportunities than any generation before you. Your jobs are going overseas and the government doesn't seem to care.
Your question is a bit nebulous for a specific answer.

Each generation had their pros and cons, but honestly I can't really say since I only have the perspective of someone from the millennial generation.

I find the most difficult thing about being part of "The Newer Generation" is economic hopelessness.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I don't think I would be any more happy if I was born in a previous generation. Whether or not it's irrational optimism, I think I live a very good life now.

I read a study that said when comparing Gen X Gen Y and The Baby Boomers, Gen X has had to work harder for less money.

I would say the older generation before at least 1980 was the one that appreciated what was given to them and what not to do.
