Which era do you think was most normal?

I have divided the eras based on my analysis of human behavior trough the years. So based on how humans interacted with each other, what their views were, how honest they were, how traditional/liberal they are, how restrictful TV was back in the days, etc. Which among these eras do you find the most normal in this way?

Personally I'd go for 1997-2003, because that's a time where in my beliefs, people had the proper perceptive abilities, and generally everything was O.K. There were no excentric fashions, music & other entertainment was both traditional and innovative in the same time. Nothing was being pushed to one side or the other, thus normal.

Isn't everybody just going to pick a time when they were young and perhaps more naive? I think people's answers will be personal to them, rather than a considered judgement of the world and its history.

I could be wrong, but that's certainly how I'd have answered before I considered why I was going to answer how I was.

Well I trust that people are able of objectively analyzing this and replying honestly and as much unbiased as possible.

Well, me too, but I've put my hands up and said my first instinct had a personal bias.

No such thing as a normal era.

I'd say the prehistoric era. Running around naked, being able to sleep with anyone without feeling any moral constraints,... seems about normal. There weren't such severe social standards as we have now.

We didn't even have to speak English or any other language. It was the grunt/gesture language. There really wasn't much in the way of culture differences either. It probably was great!

Isn't normality something that has to be defined by the cultural context it's in? And isn't cultural context defined by the era? Maybe I'm being pedantic, but I find it hard to give an answer. Maybe that's because I've not lived in a very wide variety of eras :P Anyway, I think that all eras were very normal when they were happening. I think the present day is most normal... in fact, I'll revise that. The times just previous to the international economic recession were the most normal. It changed the whole way people lived, what they spent money on, how they perceived money, which is the fuel for all society stuff :P I think of that as the most important moment of social change I've lived through, and I can hardly judge a time I've not lived through without researching it. The economic crisis started in 2008, so I'll vote at 2004 - 2009.

EDIT: Huh, I guess I've seen the return of the infamous block paragraph to my answer XD

thank you for your brief explanation. :)

Normality is something highly subjective. this poll is too. dont mind that at all ;)

i'll have to go with about 800 BC. to about 27 BC.
Sorry for breaking the time span covered by your poll, but non of those times feel "normal". Both modern age politics, financial systems, and moral/law systems are perversions of the intents with roots in the era i choose(classical greece until end of roman republic...i did not extend it into the principat era because i refuse to get modern religion into this :P)

the late 90s was cool but it wasn't all rainbows and butterflies. there is this rose tinted lens called nostalgia.

The 1960's. Many good things happened in the 60's, but I'm mostly referring to the British 60's.

There were "eccentric fashions" in the 90's.

I would also say ancient civilizations, but they're shrouded in mystery and what's known brings up more mysteries. However, allot of their laws are used in modern society, but its been twisted around put under a new light.

The 1950s America. Everyone lived in suburbs, had a car, two kids, a television, a dog, and went to church.

I think that every era had particular abnormalities. I find it very hard to pin down the era that was the most normal, because normal is subject to personal opinion.

This is impossible to answer. They are all normal and abnormal in their own right. Your comparing apples to oranges.

not at all. I've shown the basis of my view. I expect you to answer under the same criteria.

But your eras are not equal in length. How can I say a chunk of 6 years is more normal from what happened in a previous 10 year span? Change and innovation cannot be judged with arbitrary lines while ignoring the big picture. One change ficilitates the next creating an ebb and flow that effect different people at different rates. Some of these changes happen fast, some are slow to catch on. And that's normal.

I think most people will answer this from a personal point of view. So most likely you will get biased answers.

I think the most "normal" was when God first created us. That was the way we were meant to be, and now we're so far gone.
