Which deductible for health insurance should i get? (22 years old)

I am a 22 year old male, non-smoker with good health overall. I do not do drugs or chew tobacco. I have a college degree and usually do not take risks. However, I work in a school and with kids who are frequently sick and some have behavior challenges. However, I have a 2 hour commute to work, my blood pressure is sometimes elevated, and I am about 20 pounds overweight. How much insurance should I get? for the deductible-- on all of these quotes the dr. visit is the same copay. Thanks :)

$10,000 D for $50-$68 a month 1
$3000 D for $75-$90 a month 3
$10000 D for $100-$125 a month 2

I assume the school you're working doesn't offer medical benefits ? When I was working I had an HMO but I never got injured so I don't know what my deductible was but my coverage was taken out of my check each month. I'd say go with what you can afford like counterfeit said because hopefully you won't need to use it.

I assume your question refers to if you have to go to the hospital ? Does this coverage include a co pay for doctor visits ? what about dental and vision ? Something you may want to think about if you're going to invest your money to purchase medical coverage.

Just go with the best plan that you can reasonably afford.

What is the difference between the $100/mo plan and the $50/mo plan if they are both $10k deductible?

But this decision is really more of a financial decision than a health one. Which deductible can you afford? What would happen to you if you had an unlucky accident and had to pay that $10,000 all at once? Some people are well enough off to shrug that off, but for others it would put them in the poor house.

If you can afford the $10,000 deductible, then you should take that one, because you only stand to save money in the long run if you never end up having to pay it. If you can't, then take the most expensive one that you can afford.

    • Sorry, the 100/month one is for a 1000 $ deductible.
