Which bugs you more on the internet? bad spelling or bad grammar?

Bad spelling annoys me more than grammar.

Why? Because most internet browsers have built-in spellcheck so there's no excuse (other than not speaking English) to have spelling errors. Laziness is not an excuse - not a good one at any rate.

What also annoys me is when people don't bother learning the difference between "their", "they're", and "there", or "your" and "you're" - among other commonly misspelled words. Again, laziness is not a proper excuse.

This is something you WILL have to learn if you ever want to become employed. Yes, companies WILL throw away resumes when the applicant cannot spell, especially as jobs become more and more competitive.

I hate people who correct me for no other reasons than being a pain in the ass.

Everybody makes mistakes, get over it.

Both, and when people use text speak in anything other than a text message!! That is unacceptable.

When people do it on purpose. Why would you want to? Nothing could be more stupid.

If you have dyslexia or you're using your phone you may well end up spelling things wrong, esp if you're in a rush. You could change it if you noticed in time or you weren't rushing or if you could be bothered. But sometimes its not that important.

It'd be different if it was coursework or work in general. But most people are more careful in those situations.

I hate both, I hate lazy chat speak, but most of all I hate people who use the wrong form of your/you're and there/their/they're. It just makes me want to punch that person.

Especially when they're trolling and are claiming to be smarter than me, or whatever crap that trolls do, but can't type a correct sentence to save their life. Trolls and internet arseholes are just grr.

From what I've seen, bad spelling and bad grammar always show up together.

I hate both! When I'm on my phone, I usually don't have the BEST grammar, but I still make it understandable. I'm a great speller and it bothers me when my own LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER couldn't spell "intuitive." That's just sad…

I cannot stand it when people say should of instead of should have.

Sometimes when I'm reading, I feel like a spelling and grammar nazi. I was lucky enough to pick up both easily in school. Now that I said this, it will surely come back to bite
me.

Well...in a sentence, bad spelling. But nothing is worse than reading a paragraph that is just one run on sentence after another.

I saw this poll and thought "i have a perfect example" cos i was just talking to someone on facebook who has the worst spelling and sometimes i cant understand what the hell she says XD.

I understand misplacign words because you type to fast or there is not spell check.

But some dumbass (on IIN actually) was trying to talk about how his iq was fine and he pit "fyyyyn" and I wanted them dead.

Both are annoying. Spelling errors can sometimes change the meaning and are always annoying. Bad grammar usually changes the meeting and should be a capitol offense, especially what I often see hear.

I enjoy the occasional mondegreen.

I am not bothered by either one.

If its readable I dont really get as irritated with it. Sometimes people make typos. I was attacked by a grammar Nazi on You-tube since I missed a letter. However they did not take into account we only have so many spaces to write so you sometimes have to shorten things. They kept saying "You forgot a period" and "You forgot the A" and the reason I left it out was that I could simply not fit everything I could say.

I seen people who will find a minimum of 3 errors. Usually something simple like you forgot the comma or accidentally added something extra like (A) and say what a complete incompetent moron you are about it.

Whats funny is I could put these peoples posts in the grammar checker and its far less then perfect. So I really dont see how a lot of people bitch. Unless your posts are flawless you should not be such a snob about it.

i don't have a problem with bad grammar on the internet unless its done by accident and/or they sound like an idiot
i dont mind bad spelling unless its stuff like confusing 'your' and 'you're' or 'their' or 'there'...i sometimes spell things wrong on purpose for no reason =/
its the internet! i dont mind trying to have perfect spelling i guess (if i was doing school work) but im just trying 2 relax here

BOTH of them are annoying. My top pet peeves when it comes to spelling and grammar on the Internet are:

1) The "There/Their/They're" and "Your/You're" issues. "There at the beach with there families." = Where at the beach with where families? Oh, you mean "THEY'RE at the beach with THEIR families." "Your invited!" = My invited what? I assume you mean "YOU'RE invited."

2) The way people type in order to look cool.

Spelling is the most important. I don't mind if it's just one word, what I mind is if it's all the words.

Spelling becoz its a pane in teh ass too read. But given that several people I know are dyslexic I've started to excuse that, within bounds. (Namely uncommonly used words, technical terms, and headache words.)

Both annoy me, though I can accept that people make mistakes. The worst thing for me is seeing people writing 'i' when it's a pronoun and should be I! Some people even seem to use it occasionally and then use a lower-case 'i' the rest of the time...

I just don't think the caps-lock is that hard to switch on and off is all I'm saying! ;)

It may be quick, but heads up there buddy, no-one understands a fucking word you're saying.

A lot of people spell things wrong on purpose for whatever reason but at least you can understand what they're saying. (most of the time)
Unless they actually think a misspelled word is spelled correctly, its not annoying, its just funny.

But bad grammar is annoying...especially when you have to read it over and over to figure out what they're tryning to say!

when I see a very badly misspelt word, I'm sometimes amazed at the writer's creativity. It is as if they set you a little riddle to solve, e.g. "masterbait". I tried to submit a poll here for the correct spelling of this word, providing various options to choose from, but it was rejected :(

Both and I hate when people intentionally spell wrong, like 'peeple'.
I think it is obvious there is a serious problem with the education system.

Bad spelling should happen because that your internet program shouldn't let misspell anything. its poor use of grammar because grammar has a major part of bad spelling. People who cannot spell or properly use a comma should be put back into 5th grade where they teach you to fucking use it as it should be.

I think they often go hand in hand.
But bad spelling is the worst IMO.

I gotta say it is slightly annoying to have to work so hard just to understand what someone is saying. BUT! We all must remember
THIS IS THE INTERNET. yes i know...crazy isnt it? but have you been to youtube or any porn sight resently? people dont care about grammer at all on the internet! i hate people who correct me online...i just made a minor typo, if you can understand what i am saying without work then dont bother wasting both our times please.
