Where were you when 9/11 happened?

I remember clear as day where I was. In class, 5th grade. Then going home watching the news about it. I was only about 12. Freaking out about it, upset. Thinking why in the hell would anyone do that? People are fucked up these days.

I just figured since tomorrow marks the 9th year since it happened, I'd ask for your thoughts on it and where you were when it happened.

Americans should be allowed to mourn the day for however long we need to -- the average American who feels sad on this day has no control over Australia's (or any other country's) media....

I was walking into a pts room and I saw it happen on CNN. When the 2nd plane hit, I thought "Bin Laden". As far as I know, I had never heard the name before. Weird, huh?

It happened when I was 14. I was asleep then my mom called me from work and told me what happened (I was half awake then so my brain didn't comprehend it) my responce was: ok....uh huh...*thinks: shut up and let me go back to sleep* oh ok...*hangs up and goes back to sleep for like 5 minutes then was like* WAIT WHAT?

I was in school, going from first hour to second. I watched the tv all hour(partly because it was algebra).

I thought about it and I thought the first plane could've been a mistake. Maybe the pilot lost control of the plane somehow, or maybe he fell asleep or something.

But then the second plane hit. And I remember thinking specifically, "That's no accident."

I missed the bus home from our vocational school. And my mom had to pick me up. I remember waiting for a really long time just to get gas. And the prices were jacked up to almost 15 dollars per gallon in some places. It was insane!

I was alseep and my husband woke me up when news of the first plane hit. I was glued to the TV all day. It was just horrible.
And to make lite of this subject Is plain insensitive. Your mental wiring has a short. In my city is the Flight 93 memorial. There were hundreds of people there yesterday. Families of the downed plane were there. Get a grip people.

I was in geometry. Many of us had vaguely heard earlier about a plate hitting some building, but nobody knew any specifics. Anyway geometry was like my first class and my principle came over the intercom and actually told us we'd remember this moment for the rest of our lives. After that we spent the rest of the day in front of a tv.
My grandmother had almost identical memories when JFK was assassinated, except they were mostly crowded around a radio instead.

Wow I am shocked at the lack of sensitivity from some people. It was an event that should have changed your outlook on the world. My dad and aunt were supposed to be there on that day and by fate, the grace of God or whatever it was, their plans changed. At the time the planes hit, my dad would have been having breakfast at windows on the world on the top floor. On 9/11, I always stop to think how blessed I am and everyone else should too.

    • im sensative about it but i dont think people should be shown emotion when they cant even find out or deny who was responsible for it which was the illuminati and if they can sit there and mourn and still look up to the ones who done it to there family members then why should i show these people sympathy

So, I'm australiam but I still care about humanity. I was on yahoo.com about to check something when I saw a news bulletin pop up on the right side of the page. I then ran into the living room and it was all over the tv. All I kept hearing was towers crash and something about Chicago. My uncle is a CPD copper so I freaked out when they hinted they were scared something might happen at the sears building. Trying to get through to my family was literally impossible. It was awful, as are ANY losses of innocent human life anywhere in the world... But i still show my respect for 9/11 just the same as I do for the Aussies lost in Bali. This kinda crap will always happen somewhere in the world - I'm just glad I live in t he lucky part.

I was at work in Australia. It was a terrible thing that happened, but then again alot of terrible things happen all the time. I guess because it happened to America we all have to hear about it over and over and over and over, move on.

I remember the phone was ringing and I was pissed that someone was waking me up so early. I answered and I can't remember if it was my mom or dad, but they told me planes had hit the world trade center. I was only 17, and had never been to NYC so I had no idea what that was. I turned on the tv and the first thing I saw was the plane fly into the second building. I was so horrified that were planes were headed towards more places.

Get the hell out of this country if you think it's so shitty. Go live somewhere else. But it won't be long before you miss all the freedoms and rights that you have here. We don't want you here!

I was....about 4 years old...So I wasn't very aware of it. But I am shocked to see how insensitive people are, and how very stupid too. It was the WORLD trade center, not just American, different people from all over the world were there, from every country, not just the U.S. Of course they are going to air it in places like Australia and England! Dang..humanity is really evolving down lately..

If you really want to know my ''awesome'' story..well here goes...

I was only like, 11 when it happened and in 6th grade. Oddly enough, it wasn't until the very end of the day that our principal made the announcement over the PA system that some national tradgedy occurred. At that time though, I totally underestimated the implications of such an event (maybe my naivety?).

Then, I went home and turned on the news and it was EVERYWHERE. I remember watching the coverage for hours and hours and actually going to bed very nervous that the Taliban were gonna take over America and bin Laden would be at my door lmao. It was a very weird, and strange day to say the least.

It's a big deal and it should be, idiots ran planes into buildings killing innocent people! So we should be able to mourn and not read/listen whatever to comments like some of the above. Imagine if you had lost someone, your mom dad whoever and they were just going to work, and idiots ran planes into where they worked killing them don't you think you'd make a BIG deal about it too? And it doesn't matter if it was America or Australia just because it's USA is the greatest country ever doesn't mean anything. it's still very sad and people who say stuff like "Move on" tell that to the families of the people who lost loved ones, and see what they say It's probably a LOT better than what I'm wanting to say. But I'm a Christian and I'm not gonna say that. Btw when teenagers act better than grown adults it's SAD!!

I was in 9th grade, I was in gym class. My friend came over to me and ask if I had heard about the plane that crashed in to the pentagon? And I had not..then we went to our next class and our principal made an announcement over the loud speaker saying what had happened and that we would stay in our classes and we could watch the news..it was really scary...I didn't really understand how or why someone would want to do that. I can't believe its been 9 years. RIP..
