My grandma was a racist. She used to tell us horror stories when we were younger about all the things black people allegedly did. Including such horrible crimes as rape and murder.

Naturally I became afraid of black people. Big black guys in particular. Now I realize it's an irrational fear, but part of my mind still thinks that somehow, for some reason they're going to attack me.

I wish I didn't think that way. I wouldn't want others to think that way about me. But for example, if a see a black guy in the store or something, I turn around.

I'm not bothered by black women, just men. I grew up in a house with no guys except my grandpa. My son of a ..... a-Hem I mean, my father wasn't around and my uncle passed when I was little, so I didn't know how to act around guys. And whenever I saw guys in town or wherever, I turned the other way.

I'll admit, I'm messed up, but I feel really uneasy around black guys. It's not because I want to though. I am sorry if I offended anyone in any way by this statement.

I feel that most people are scared of what is different to them, but if your brought up with diversity than you have a better look on other peoples races, nationalities, religions, etc... I am Egyptian/muslim who lives in a very diverse community and I look far beyond peoples color of there skin, the religion they may follow, the car they drive, or the house or apartment they live in cause we all BLEED THE SAME BLOOD... and we all live in a beautiful country where unfortunitly racism OBVIOUSLY still excites... but who are we to call this great country the land of the free and equal opportunity where we have to worry about racist ignortant people, and people who are hate me because I follow Islam? I love all religions, all racises, and all nationalities... Peace & Love...

Well, I'm white and there really aren't many black people where I live. Maybe just a handful of families. They all seem really nice to me. However, a few towns over, its a different story. Its a lot poorer over there and there's black and mexican gangs, so I'd say they are a bit aggresive. I hate places where you can't feel safe walking around town, so I don't bother going there. Got no reason to anyway. But I typically don't deem blacks aggresive just cus some are. I'd say there's more punk ass crackers trying to be tough than anything else.

I am white and I grew up in a 98% black community. I was always the only white kid in the class. Now I am 17 and I instinctively make friends with pretty much just black people. I have one white friend. It is not something that I even realized until it was pointed out by my family. All of my friends are black or mexican/honduran. I get teased for being the only white kid in my groups, but it doesn't bother me because I feel really uncomfortable if I am with a bunch of white people (unless they are girls.)

I am white, and I don't judge on skin colour.
However, where I live, there are actual clubs that exclude white people. We hear people say all the time that white people will never change and that they are racist. I mean, people can take that however they choose, but doesn't THAT sound racist?

My point is that just because it's like that where I live, doesn't mean it's like that every where. People, (all skin tones) act differently in different areas. But here, you see a lot of aggressive black people and silent white people who just don't want to start any fights, but have to deal with them anyways because others just won't stop.

I live in Australia. We don't have very many black people as such, but we do have a lot of indiginous Australians. Sometimes, when I talk to a black guy, I find myself thinking of them as dangerous or agressive, and I have no idea why. I really try not to be racist - My parents were white south africans that fled so that they wouldn't be conscripted to fight black people. My best friend is korean. But sometimes I find myself stereotyping without even wanting to and I feel like shit. Tbh I think movies with macho black guys (The A-Team, anything with Samuel L Jackson in it), and some gangsta rappers such as Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre and 50 Cent (Not all black rappers though) are partly to blame. They're just kinda enforcing their own stereotype.

I would never deliberately hold someone's skin colour against them. Sometimes I do it accidentally, and I feel like shit.

I don't care for people with the attitude of listening to rap music at an excessive volume and greet people saying, "what's up foo'". Don't expect the public to think highly of you with this greeting and this goes for ALL races.

But I think it mostly depends on how you dress and act
Its sad though you'd think that white people would get over that crap and stop being rasist by now (not all whities Act like that but some do :(

You see, you prove your racism by calling whites "whitey". How would you like it if I called you "nigger" and punched you in your flat Ubangi nose?

      Comment Hidden ( show )

      • You can't compare whitey to nigger. Whitey to blacky, whitey to Negro, cracker to nigger, and even then. The term nigger has a lot of baggage to it that whitey does not. I personally do not agree with using any racial slur.

I am a 6''5 , 250lbs, 27 year old black male. I work in health care. Everyday someone makes a comment about my statue, they make comments like " id hate to fight you" "you should of been a pro football player " "what did your parents feed you", "can you slam dunk" ... mostly white women seem to be intimidated by my presence, but not by my personality. Once you hear me talk then you realized that I'm interesting, personable, knowledgable, articulated, educated and funny, then the guard comes down, then some are just mean and dismissive and I just avoid them and am purposely extra nice to everyone around them. I know that some people are intimidated by me. I know that there are "angry black man" stereotypes, just I try break the mold. I always Try to come across as approachable especially working in a hospital. There are times where I'll use my size to my advantage, like sizing up the jerk at the local bar, or trying to get thru a crowd of people. Lol.

If this applies to all white people then you yourself are being racist.

Perhaps it's time to stop thinking about skin color and just react to each person individually.

I'm afraid of ghetto people but not black people. If the black person looks ghetto I think they might be into starting drama/fights and I try to avoid those at all costs, but I have met mexican, asian, white, and arab people that all intimidate me the same amount. It doesn't matter what colour skin, but the way they present themselves (their style of clothing, makeup, hair) and the look they give you that scares me.

I think everyone stereotypes to an extent, it is only natural to draw conclusions at first glance. As a side point, if black people are more aggressive than white people, then why are all serial killers and paedos white? Just a question there lol.

On a list of serial killers, there are only about two black males.
Alot of rapists are white, murders, robbers..

Yeah, black males are associated with gangs. That's where the "agressive" stereotype comes from.
