When you look back on your old is it normal posts or comments...

Do you think they were silly, awesome, scary, etc? Do you laugh at how you were back then? Do you look back fondly at all the times you've helped someone? This question probably suits users that either have actually looked back at their comments or users who have been here a for a few months to a few years.

I was the same as I was back then. 16
I was (insert word here) back then. 11
I never looked back at my old posts or comments 2
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

This thread was definitely made for me, since I have the oldest active account here (aside from Udi of course).

Most of my posts are not visible because they were created before one of the later forms of moderation. I expect them to be permenantly in moderation limbo.

Most of the posts were really indicative of the old days of IIN. The most pointless shit was accepted and kept on the site for ages. Sometimes I just felt really silly and posted jibberish.

However, what I remember the most longingly were the fake stories. I would get inspired some days to write the most ludicrously absurd stories I could think of. Then as I watched the comments pour in, I couldn't stop myself from laughing. Especially at the ones taking the story seriously, but also the trolls.

On the other hand, I had a large number of posts in which I spewed some brainwashed liberal B.S., especially after having watched an over-the-hill George Carlin doing the same.

I don't think my stories were all that funny, looking back. But the comments were often hilarious.

So, overall I'd say that my posts were always shit but not without some comedic merit, most of which being incidental instead of planned.

I just looked up the very first comment I ever made on IIN:

"I don't think it's a terribly bad idea to be mildly intoxicated when submitting resumes online- I'm sure it would help with the confidence factor, and quell the fear of rejection...just make sure you aren't shitfaced and reeking of booze when you attend the follow up interview, unless you're applying for the job of "official wife slapper" or "republican""

    I don't think I've changed much.

Having said that, I still won't read my comments, not even from a week ago....I'm always like, "ooooo man, I called that guy a fucking virgin," and "oh shit! I said paint-chip-eating-retard. That was unnecessary."

For posts that embarrass/show my bad side, I pretend I never made them and they were simply made by another person. It's actually quite convincing to myself.

  • I was just terrible in my early IIN days. Then again I was going through phases at those times. Lol.

          • It had to be done. Otherwise they would not be strong enough to face IIN's world. When I argued with them IIN regulars ain't never tasted IIN noob before. I saved their lives!

            ;)

        • Really? I thought your old self had more passion and conviction. Now, you just seem to pacify the masses with light-hearted banter.

I liked the old you better :/

I think I posted much longer, more helpful, and humorous comments in general back then. I don't get as much time here as I used to, and (in my opinion) the site itself was better back then too. I had motivation to come here more often and comment better.

However, I have learned a lot since then; especially about socializing and relationships. I've changed and grown as a person. I'm more happy and stable in life now than I was back then too.

I've pretty much always been this way, except I put more thought into what I was saying and I didn't joke around -as- much.

As I joined this site in times where I wasn't really mature in terms of thinking, most of my posts from back then either disgusts me or displeases me in some other way...

And since I'm not a native speaker, my English has improved pretty much since then and all my posts are full of mistakes :/

Looking back at the comments from today will probably make me cringe in a few years too =P

All I can say is, I have enjoyed most of the time on IIN which is the most important thing for me^^

Really never? You have to read more of my comments. I dished out some good advice in between spewing hatred and cynicism.
