When singers.....

Are really good and you can just tell because they send a shiver up your spine? I think singers like this are truly the best. When they can connect with their audience and send a message that means something rather than nothing.

No, I like singers like Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Justin Beiber... 3

When I really connect to the lyrics, yes. I don't even think the quality of the voice is that important to me, so long as it isn't so bad it distracts from the amazing lyrics. But a good set of lyrics... my God, that is what makes a song give me shivers and stick in my mind forever.

Oh gord yes. I tried introducing a few people to one of my favorite bands (The Cruxshadows) and several have said the singer sounds too monotone. But few bands out there give me shivers like these guys do.

I like some popular singer and some not so popular singers. Taylor Swift is one of them that I really enjoy. I am very diverse in music and could never contain myself to one genre. Some popular singers are really good like Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Colbie Collait, and Adele. I've also enjoyed Taylor Swift long before she was popular and was very suprized when her fame took off. I think music is music. Some of it is good and some of it is bad and doesn't really matter what time period. It's dependent on the passion the artist put into it. I've also heard some classic songs in which the artist had no talent and was no more than a pretty face (a.k.a Fabian. Look up "Turn Me Loose".).

Bottom line is, nothing changes under the sun. You know, there was once a time where rock n' roll was considered crappy music except to the mainstream youngsters. Parents used to hate Elvis back in his day. Now look at it. It's considered classic and "real" music. Years from the, now popular music we have today will be long gone and there will be a new generation of music. What is now popular will be considered old school, and the youngsters who listen to it now will be trying to convince their kids that that is real music.

I have a teen magazine that was published in 1958 in which the writer is duscussing, what was then, modern music and how it will all change in the future. He duscusses how the music of there time is hated by their parents but, one day, their going to hate the music their kids listen to.

"One other thing is just as sure as death and taxes, to wit: some day youse guys and dolls will become the Old Guard and complain about the frantic fads of your own teenage kids. They'll drive you batty with the crazy music, dances and idols of that coming day."

-Earl Leaf "My Fair and Frantic Hollywood", 1958

By "that coming day" he means the 70's and 80's, of course. And that's the very music parents today are constantly trying to convince their kids is "real" music. And I can garentee you the kids of this generation will grow up to do the same and so forth. The moral to this is nothing changes but the faces no matter how far intot he future we get.

Me, personally, I listen to whatever sounds good to me. And I'll admit that most of today's music isn't in my taste. I just thought I'd let you in on a little bit of pop culture history! ;D

That's probably why singers such as Freddy Mercury and Micheal Jackson led really successful musical careers.
