My tablet is over 5 years and still works but it has glitches and such. I'll throw it away when it is probably a decade old or it becomes broken.

If it works, why throw it out?
I only buy new electronics when my old ones stop working, or are too old/ becoming obsolete. I refuse to buy new tech, just because it's the newest thing and "I just have to have it".
If it no longer works then you should throw it, if it is something like a computer or a laptop or a phone those can be easily fixed, with computers and laptops should be fairly easy to fix as long as you know what the problem is with phones is basically kinda easy as I'd say.
Most people I know are materialistic shopaholics and want everything new,It's sad how wasteful and selfish people have become.
My older brother is like that. He always has to have the newest best thing. I'm completely opposite. I keep a shoebox full of all my old phones because theres pictures in them that I couldn't transfer to my new phone. And I keep all the old chargers so I can look them once in a while.
