I cried once when I saw footage on the news of a flood somewhere in South America. A woman was being rescued from being stranded on a rooftop which was going to go under soon. Her neighbours tossed her a rope, which she took in one hand while holding her dog in the other. While they were pulling her to safety, a big gush of water came and pulled her dog from her arm. She must have loved that dog a lot.
I used to tear up at those There's Nothing Like Australia adverts. I have no idea why. I'm not Australian, I've never been to Australia, and I don't have any particular emotional associations with Australia. I don't think the adverts were supposed to be emotional or heart wrenching. I don't even particularly want to go to Australia (although I'm sure it's nice). But for some reason, when I saw those ads, I was filled with sudden, inexplicable Australian patriotism.
Brains are weird.
i cried to the film "the impossible" about the thi-land tsunami. i empathized so much with how it would feel to be separated from my family in a disaster
1. If the subject matter very sad or if it strikes you somewhere deep in your memories causing you to be reminded of that unpleasant something.
2.If the subject matter is so hilarious that it causes you to cry.
When the news is very very bad,
especially when it includes your loved ones.
