When i was little, i went to other places in my mind

When I was younger, around ages 5-7, I used to walk in circles around the garden outside of my house for HOURS. Literally hours, just creating stories in my head. I'd speak them outloud, too. I must have looked crazy. I also did this when I was in the hot tub I had. I'd swim around it in circles for hours just thinking up these stories. When I stopped thinking them up, I'd kind of "wake up" and stop walking or swimming.

That's normal, some people still do. Sometimes, when I'm bored, I like to construct worlds In my head, some whole cloth, some loosely based on media I enjoy. one in particular, has been an ongoing thing for the past couple years. I observe the goings on of the populace, the government, the day to day, even the culture and " history" of the world. Many characters are rather developed, one in particular, the librarian keeps me up to date on goings on, whether it's a new law the government passed, or the car accident that occurred outside the library today.

I still do that! Well, I just think of ideas for my manga comic (not published... YET!). Ah...

I just spent an entire train ride and walk, an hour, creating an elaborate storyline. I'm 40. I was thinking of posting that to see if many adults do that. This kind of answered my question *queue kermit singing rainbow connection*

That's the only way I can ever keep myself entertained when I'm exercising - if I can't do that, I'd get too bored and stop. I do it when swimming lapses in the pool, and when walking on the treadmill (yeah I'm not THAT athletic, I just walk on the treadmill, not run) - but thinking about stories allows me to walk faster than I would if I were thinking about walking... or whatever it is that people think about when they exercise...

I did stuff like that too when I was younger. The kicker is, I still do it now! I'm 27.

    • Oh wow! How cool! I wish I could do it now as vividly as I used to. Maybe I have been and I haven't even noticed.
