There is good music in all time periods, you just have to turn off the radio and tv in order to find it. Shitty Justin Bieber type "manufactured" bands existed every decade, in the 70's they had The Sex Pistols cashing in on stupid people who thought they were the real deal. While you've got a great band like The Cows going bankrupt because the mainstream shithill fuckface bands are taking up the air time.
Most of my favourite stuff existed between decades 85-95.
Viennese Classic period, say about 1770. Not much of our current music will still be listened to in 250 years time.
Nah, Russian Romantic composers, such as the Mighty Five and Tchaikovsky
I always get in too late. You stole my thunder. I love a lot of todays music too...but when it boils down to it, nothing will stand the test of time like this.
Ahh, I'm sorry. This came up on one of those days when I get in first on every question.
I'd been listening to the Eroica earlier in the day and it had actually crossed my mind that nobody has written anything quite so wonderful in the last century. I'm not even a huge Beethoven fan (I listen once or twice a month) but the Eroica really stirs me. The brief fifty or sixty years worth of music in one city, I think, has been the most important in human history.
It's impossible to choose and era. There was, and is, good and awful music in every era. It's unfair to judge to be honest.
This question has been asked soooo many times too.
There's good music in every decade- only the good stuff gets remembered. I'm partial to sixties stuff, but music is timeless.
90's:)... No, actually it's more like the 17th century when Mozart and Beethoven are still around:D
I've never understood this debate. Why does it matter when music was created? Unless the music only makes sense in the light of a certain social context (which, I would argue, almost all good music doesn't) it doesn't matter. It's always an interesting discussion, but I've never understood the point of it.
I don't know my answer. It keeps changing, but I think it tends to move further into the past as I become more open-minded and I'm finding it more difficult to limit myself to one style of music.
Frankly, late 19th Century-early 20th for classical, 1930's-40's for Jazz.
It gets better and better
Pop music has gotten worse and worse since The Beatles, but that's just because the music industry has grown a lot. If you dig deep you can find outstanding music even today. And nowadays music is more diverse.
80s and 90s were good but there were some excellent songs in the 60s and 70s as well! The music of today is awful.
Its hard for me to decide. But anything but now. I really like 60/70's music. But the 80's and 90's had some good music too. And I only like a handful of todays music.
Late 70s to mid 80s when there was the rise of the female punk and rock artists. I'm talking The runaways, Joan Jett, Bikini kill etc. Today's music sucks most of it anyway like for example One direction they are classified as a band, bands plays instruments they don't therefore they are a group. & what's up with shitty pop artists doing bad covers of epic songs that should remain untouched.
1970s by far-Shit started going downhill BIG TIME,with the exception of DEVO.
I think music just keeps getting better. But my favorite time period of music is like 95-2005. Eagle Eye Cherry, Sixpence None the Richer, Incubus, Green Day, Dave Matthews, Smashing Pumpkins, The Strokes, Oasis, Blur, Blink-182, Foo Fighters, Ben Folds Five, Collective Soul.
guys thanks for all the comments i love all music im the type of person that listen to rap in the morning rock/heavy metal in the evening R&B at noon and all other music at night. again thx 4 comments
Every era had good and bad music, but i would have to say 60s-70s because that was when rock was in its prime Led Zeppelin, Queen,Pink Floyd, Henderix... the list goes on
i have no idea man... cuz i dont listen to much old songs and im a buddy of present so love the way music is now .... may be it was good even before...
i think there is some kind of good ,everlasting music of all times...???
There's been good and bad music throughout the history of time but it was around the mid to late 2000's when it really started to go downhill. Now everything is auto-tuned and meaningless.
All you people saying 90's are probably just saying that for nostalgic reasons. How is "YotellyouwhatIwantwhatIreallyreallywant" over and over again as meaningful as John Lennon's Imagine?
