When do you think its approperiate for people to be exposed to sex?

I was thinking about the first time I actually had questions about sex and fetishes and stuff like that and how I was 12 going through puberty. While my mom flipped out thinking that there was something wrong with me because I liked bondage at such a young age (let alone that I liked it at all), I still think that I turned out fine. So my question is, what do you think is the appropriate age for people to be exposed to that kind of stuff?

EDIT: no I was not having sex at 12, and the bondage that I was doing was very primitive and experimental.

    it doesn't matter when you think its appropriate. there is so much sex everywhere these days that they will get exposed.

    Most of us start thinking about sex at puberty, which can come from around 11 to 14. I started masturbating when I was 11 or so. It's pretty normal for kids to experiment with each other, usually non penetration. That helps them to understand their bodies and emotions, but the massive danger is from adults preying on this. That is so horribly damaging and, thankfully punishable by law.
