When being white is wrong.
I am the wrong color for this job, apparently. There was an opening at my friend's firm and he recommended me for the job. I am experienced, and have the educational degree that is needed. I have an excellent track record. The only problem, my friends tells me, is that I am white. You guessed it. They hired a black man instead of me. Yes, it came down to that. Can't sue because the man who was hired is just as qualified as I am. And my friend is certainly not going to risk losing his job by admitting that he gave me this inside information. This firm needs more blacks and women on staff for PR reasons and in this day and age I really think that is a lame excuse for this act of racial prejudice. I am no racist. This sounds like an old cliché but one of my best friends since way back in high school is black. My wife and me attended his wedding. His mother is like an aunt to me. But I am bitter against black people right now. Is this normal?
