When being white is wrong.

I am the wrong color for this job, apparently. There was an opening at my friend's firm and he recommended me for the job. I am experienced, and have the educational degree that is needed. I have an excellent track record. The only problem, my friends tells me, is that I am white. You guessed it. They hired a black man instead of me. Yes, it came down to that. Can't sue because the man who was hired is just as qualified as I am. And my friend is certainly not going to risk losing his job by admitting that he gave me this inside information. This firm needs more blacks and women on staff for PR reasons and in this day and age I really think that is a lame excuse for this act of racial prejudice. I am no racist. This sounds like an old cliché but one of my best friends since way back in high school is black. My wife and me attended his wedding. His mother is like an aunt to me. But I am bitter against black people right now. Is this normal?

Perhaps this black man has a better command of the language than you? "My wife and me attended his wedding". Or did he write that sentence?

Firms these days use affirmative action to justify their bullshit hiring system just to appeal to minorities and women in order to get votes from morons. It's all about money. But people kinda deserve it since they are so stupid and embrace this P.C. bullshit. There is no unity nowadays especially among white people. We are held accountable for every fucking wrong our ancestors did to minorities and women. Our minds are filled with prefabricated guilt. We have to wake up from this lethargy if we want to be treated equally. We should stop being so damn apologetic. People should be hired based on MERIT! Not on skin color or what they have between their legs. Everyone who thinks otherwise is an imbecile.

I would have hired him too. You said you were both equally qualified. Why would I not choose the one that has the added advantage of making me look better?

If you were even slightly more qualified I would've hired you.

It's what's known as "affirmative action". It's kind of like how when you see an ad where out of a group of Caucasians, there will be one minority, usually an African person. Companies try to diversify to encompass a minority group so, that they don't look like racists. I only can see this as being okay if the people hired were qualified for that position.

I agree, I honestly don't like affirmative action, as it puts unnecessary pressure on employers to hire people solely on race, whether they can do the job or not, and makes it seem that racism is the default in people. Over at the local Chrysler plant (before it was torn down), they had a couple black employees who could not even read, and their position required that ability!

Yes its called affirmative action. Unless he really was a better candidate then you. But companies prefer to hire minorities and people with disabilities because they get extra $ for it.
Next time you apply you should put on your application you are "other" for race and if they ask you can say youre part Native American. Who can prove otherwise?

What were you there for this guy's interview? How do you know he didn't just make a better impression? Job hunting sucks, good luck friend. But don't victimize yourself.
