When a criminal loses his memory...

Lets say someone has done something REALLY, REALLY bad.
He will be arrested, he'll go to jail, etc.. But what if that person loses his memory before trials. What if he becomes a totally fine person, will he still be punished?

He'll be set free 3
He'll still be punished 31

Like a bird trembled on the ground you took my life and thought of me♪

If the victim was a relative of mine i'd be pretty pissed. Couldn't anyone facing trial suddenly "lose" their memory?

They would probably not make him stand trial at that time.
More than likely, if he has lost all of his memories and becomes a total amnesiac, he will be declared mentally unfit to stand trial and be placed in a mental institution until such a time as he IS fit to stand trial.

If he is declared mentally fit, he will probably have to stand trial, whether or not he remembers it.

This reminded me of "Death Note" for some reason.

  • i like it, and it made me think, what about someone who committed crimes in their youth for eg an ss guard, what happens if they get dementia, all is forgiven maybe
