I'm not a fan of anime, but I Ioved Spirited Away... Same with Howl's Moving Castle

  • Dark Knight.

Why? Because it casts a light on what human nature is really like (Joker/his minions/Gotham citizens) and what things it can accomplish when led by virtue (Batman/Harvey Dent). Let's put a smile on that face-uh.

American Psycho and Fight Club were both great movies. Casino Royale was good as well. The scene where the bad guy is torturing Bond and Bond tells him to "scratch my balls" is hilarious.

No-one will have heard of my favourite films, but films I really like that people will have heard of.... Goodfellas, Grosse Point Blank, The Big Lebowski, Kung Fu Hustle, Carlito's Way, Leon, Local Hero, Terminator II, Lost In Translation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Pulp Fiction, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Good Morning Vietnam.

Films I really like that some people may have seen... Until the End of the World, Breaking the Waves, Midnight Run, Ghost World, Nuts in May, Cold Comfort, Irreversible.

Just because we haven't heard of them doesn't mean you shouldn't share. I'm always looking for a good film I've never heard of before.

Good point. Given I like everything on your list except Baraka (I haven't seen it yet but want to), we'd probably like the same kind of films. I held back from giving a list, though, because my choices can be dark (but not always) and also some people see enjoying foreign films as pretentious. Okay, hmm, Run, Lola, Run (which you've probably already seen), The Princess and the Warrior, Tatie Danielle (a funny one), Noce Blanche (a sad one), Merci La Vie (a tricky one), and - in the English language - The Station Agent, Me And You And Everyone We Know, Orlando, Once, A Matter Of Life And Death, and absolutely anything with James Stewart or John Cusack (except Pushing Tin) because they generally don't seem to ever choose bad films to appear in.

Nowadays? The dirge of Saw films ARE nowadays.
The first one was so predictable and so clearly just trying to provoke a response, rather than entertain or make a point; that I've refused to watch the others

My favourite movies are really osscure. They deal with the days of the "Three Stooges" Era:

    2: "The Casino Murder Case"
    3: "Murder In The Fleet"

    SHEMP HOWARD:

1: "Private Buckaroo"; {With Harry James and the Andrews Sisters}:
    2: "Mississippi Gambler"
    3: "Convention Girl"
4: "The Strange Case Of Dr. RX."
    5: "Butch Minds The Baby"

Could keep going, but these are my top 11 favourites of The Stooges World.

Out of the world of The Stooges:

    1: James Stewart; "It's a Wonderful Life."
    2: John Travolta: "Michael"
    3: Robin Williams: "Jack"
4: Merle Streep: "Julie and Julia"

Could continue but these are the ultimates of my opinion. Thanks:
