Whats growing up from my esophagus?

After tasting blood, my husband shined a flashlight in my mouth and discovered a long, stem-like growth growing out of my esophagus. He described it as vainy, with a pool of blood in the middle. I constantly have a lump in my throat and I don't have pain when i swallow, but definitely pressure. I've been to two different doctors and they both blew me off. The last one said it was probably my epiglottis but I thought you weren't supposed to be able to see your epiglottis!? Any experience with this??? IIN?

    You shouldn't be able to see the epiglottis unless there are medical complications. Both doctors should know this and should have examined you. It's possible they were thinking of the uvula, which should be visible. But you shouldn't be able to feel your uvula in your mouth.

    As for what's actually wrong, it's impossible to predict and it'd be no better than guesswork to do it here. You really need a third opinion from a medical practitioner who is actually prepared to take a look.

    Try a medical site with a symptom-checker. It sounds to me like some sort of hemmorage in your throat. Don't stop seeking medical attention until you get an answer! I hope every thing turns out okay. :)

    Find another doctor. Talk to an attorney while you're at it.

    That's pretty sad when TWO doctors just said ''to hell with it.''

    I agree with the guys above, get a third opinion. And hey, looking online is never a bad thing. I've found out a LOT more about health related things more so than talking to my doctors, haha. Just go on forums and search around and see if anyone else has had the same experience. But try to get a third opinion from another doctor first!
