What you say about others says more about you than...

"You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him" - Audrey Hepburn

Do you think that what you say about others says more about you than them?

I'm interested in this belief. For the most part I think it's true, but I'm wondering what others thoughts are.

Yes I do 12
No I don't 5

I don't know about "more", because quantity of knowledge is kind of hard to be sure of. That said, I definitely think you can learn a lot about people from how they perceive situations and what they say about people so I'll say yes.

If someone talks too much about other people it means he or she is a gossip and can't be trusted.

It's a quote it can't be right in all situation's so I would say no. To some people it would prove they are hateful or untrustworthy but for others, perhaps they have a good reason to talk about the pain a friend caused them.

  • Not "more," but it certainly reveals what matters most to them if it's a topic they fixate on or speak strongly (for or against) about.

I've noticed the people who agree with this quote the most are the ones who like to self-righteously speak about others more than most. People who don't care to talk shit about others don't care about this quote.

Maybe I'm slanted on the subject at this time, but that is my experience.
