What would you press? (money game)

So here is the game: You can press 1 button in this game. Once a lifetime so choose wisely! Either the red one or the green one :)

Red: You get 1 Million dollars instantly.
Green: There is only a 50% chance that you get the money but its 100 Million dollars!!!

This is a very interesting psychological research so vote what you would do..

Red. In a fifty year career, I don't expect to earn more than $2m, so why not get half of it now, invest it to get the other million, and then have a life that allows me to do things at any point (not just for a couple of hours each evening, if I have the energy).

Green. I'm greedy, and I like Taylor Swift, deal with it.

I'd push the red button. If I got a million right now, my life wouldn't change any. I'd still go to work, I'd still go to school, I'd still budget and try my best to make ends meet and hope that when I get out of college I get a good job. I might try to invest some of it, but I'd keep most of it saved.

What would be different is that I would not be very stressed out at all. I'd have an amazing feeling of security, knowing that if my car broke down, if I lost my job, if I needed a surgery or something like that, I would have nothing to worry about because I have a million in the bank! Hell, I save money now, but I don't make much so it's hard to save up and recoop my savings after having to replace an expensive car part or having to get a medical procedure done (expensive for me, even with insurance). I like having money not because I need a ton of shit in my life, but because I like the feeling of security that comes with knowing that if I lost my job, I'd have time to find another one and not have to figure out how I am going to pay rent if the job hunt takes longer than expected.

I'm not incredibly greedy, and I genuinely enjoy my life, even without having very nice things (I enjoy work and study), but having the knowledge that if something bad happened, I would not go under due to inability to pay??? That'd make me extremely happy.

I am a gambler so I would go with the green button.

I like these type questions. *tips hat to the OP*

    Hm. Green.

Though if i am not the only one to press the button, i would probably try to cheat the system by getting friends to agree and pool+distribute the cash.

But even if i can't do that, i'd go for green.
I have a happy live. 1 Million will just make some things more convenient, but in the end, my life as is continues...maybe in a new home and with more expensive holidays.

With green, either my life continues as-is, and i'll be angry i was "greedy", or it changes everything. I could with good conscience stop working, and do as i please. I want to go to america? I do. Asia? Lets go.

Red. :) If I can win a million dollars no questions asked, why be greedy?

Or, I would choose green and if I got it, I would have so much money to give to non profit organizations. Republican party still trying to shut down Planned Parenthood? Here you guys go, have a few mil to get you back on your feet. XD

Red, invest properly you can turn 1 million into 100+ million, and I don't have a 50% chance of getting nothing.

Red, I kinda need some money for college and if I chose green and didn't get the money, then that would really suck.

Green I would not care if I managed to get money or not but if I did get the money I would change my life. I would want the future of my life to be at chance and I would be happy ether way money or no money.

Red, no question!! I could so easily live off of $1 mil, and live well, for the rest of my life.

  • Who_Fan4Life

Personally, I would press the red button.

Yes, you would have a chance at getting A LOT more, but you know, I am used to living with barely any money anyways, so what's the point. I'd rather get a quick infusion of cash and dividend the money wisely.

I'm always used to scrounging around with money and being frugal. I would definitely make sure the million gets used wisely and I would be happy.

It would suck though because 100 million is a lot of money and it would at least guarantee that you could pay off things like any medical bills, a nice house and any critical things that you buy in your life. Although I must say, all that money doesn't necessarily buy you happiness, but it at least gives you a leg up in this harsh world.

Red, definitely. $100 million is too much to be given to me, and I don't like big risks.

Also, what makes this an interesting psychological experiment? Are you testing something else that we don't know about :O? Or are you just seeing how greedy people are?
