What would distinguish a poser?

You can tell when someone's a poser but what about when someone is truly passionate about the music they hear yet they're mistaken for a poser? It must suck and feel like the passion is sucked out from you. For example, some pple might just like the music but they don't dress the part. I think that's even more authentic than trying to fulfill the whole role; you don't have to look like the music you like. I think here are so many misconceptions about who's a poser. There are some pple who ya aren't so focused on the artist's tour dates, members, or just really really like the song but that doesn't mean they're a half ass fan. There are many types of different fans out there. So what do you guys think when distinguishing a poser?
I think a poser is.....

Someone who just likes the music for its beat 4
Someone who doesn't know the lyrics COMPLETELY 2
Someone who doesn't dress the part of the music genre 0
Someone who doesn't keep track of the artists they've liked stuff from 2
Just someone who likes the music cause it's in so they conform 42

    Step 1: Be in seventh grade.
    Step 2: Dislike somebody.
    Step 3: They're a poser.

    Someone who likes the music cause it's in so they conform, of course! Posers are pretending to be something they're not. Liking music only for its beat is not posing. Neither is the person who doesn't memorize lyrics or the one who doesn't know the names of the last sixteen guitarists in their favorite metal band. You don't have to know a thing about the music to enjoy it!

    The term doesn't mean anything.

    You don't have to know everything about a band to like them. Not only is that boring – and it also makes you very boring -- it eats into valuable listening time. Not everyone feels the need to (or can) get to see every concert because they can't afford it or they've got other priorities

    When you know you like a band, you don't need to shove their name into every conversation, unless there is some reason to, ie you need someone to help you get a cd or drive you to a concert.

    None of the options, man.

    Poser is someone who's trying way too fucking hard to be the most hardcore.
    It means basically, over-dresses the part and knows fuckall about the music.

    You don't have to memorize the lyrics, or even change your dress style just because you like certain artists or wanna hang out with certain sub-cultures.
    We had kids on tours coming up to sign shit and I'd never say they listen to the stuff we played, so you never know.

    Someone who try to be "cool" by pretending they like some kind of music but in fact don't know anything or barely. I met one, it's just pathetically funny.

        You know this poll shows how very pretentious you are. You really seem to believe you can dictate what another person likes just because they don't follow your set of rules.

        Liking scary movies does not mean you dress all in black everyday, Listening to rock does not mean you have nothing but rock T shirts, If a chick likes girls it does not mean she is automatically going to look butch, and not every gay dude looks like all fem, Liking science does not mean you come to school dressed in a lab-coat and goggles all the time.

        You are not the one who decides if someone is allowed to like something. Why do you believe you have a right to dictate that? "Oh you don't dress like how the music makes ME feel. You don't really care about this music".

        Simply liking a song does not mean you listen to it all the time, it does not mean you own all the albums and goes to the concerts. You don't have to be completely Obsessed with something to care about it.

        Some people listen to nothing but the radio. It doesn't mean they don't enjoy the station just because they don't know the name of every single song. You are the POSER.
