There are a significant number of Emergency Room and other Doctors and Nurses who tell the story that they have seen multiple cases of "near death" or "died (momentarily dead) and resuscitated" where people come alert and either talk of how peaceful it was and there was a pleasant light with long lost family and friends waiting for them; or that come alert totally terrified by what they experienced or saw. The terrified ones quickly forget it (suppress the memory) and appear to be "normal" after that.
My wife works part time in a hospital and has confirmed that those are common reports by staff dealing with people in such situation.
There are reports in literature going back as far as mostly fully intact "books" go of similar experiences that were documented by the authors at the time.
That leads me to believe that there is in fact someplace our soul goes too when our body dies ... and those experiences may be the basis for the descriptions of heaven and hell.
It's also very common for patients who are able to, to point and look to the corner of the room.
This is sometimes accompanied by them saying the name of a deceased spouse/parent/friend etc. I can think of logical explanations as to why this might happen, but I certainly don't discount the possibility that they are seeing spirits who have "come for them". Its unlikely and yet entirely possible.
That's why being a staunch atheist is such a weird concept for me. Theres ether something or nothing after death and it's a hell of a lot more comforting to think theres exsistance after death.
I have absolutely no idea. I can say, as a non-religious person, that I do hope it's reincarnation.
I think my remains will decompose and fertilize the earth and a beautiful tree will grow in my place
I mean, we’re all gonna find out eventually so there’s no point in stressing about it too much. Personally I believe in reincarnation but if I’m wrong then I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it lmao.
You await the day of judgement in the cleansing fires of the Lord. When the day comes, the Lord will bid you to rise once again for the judgement. Then, those who are deemed worthy will go to Heaven, to be with God, and those who are deemed unworthy will go to Hell, with the Devil and his evil band. Unless, you are a saint, in which case, you will go directly to Heaven.
good reply,
so whom you think will go to heaven or hell?
i mean;whats the criteria for being eligible to enter into heaven or hell ?
I do not know who will go to Heaven; I am not the judge of that. As Paul said,
"Therefore judge not before the time; until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every man have praise from God."
- 1 Corinthians 4:5
In order to get into Heaven, one must be wise, one must make good in the world, one must have faith, one must show their faith through works, and one must confess their sins to the Lord.
i love how god created the universe and everythin in it includin you & me but if i talk shit about him or his inherently flawed worm or even so much as fail to properly kiss his heavenly ass im automatically condemned to eternal damnation
thats like some kim jong un level shit man
God has said that He is a jealous god.
"[9] Thou shalt not adore them, and thou shalt not serve them. For I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon their children unto the third and fourth generation, to them that hate me, [10] And shewing mercy unto many thousands, to them that love me, and keep my commandments."
-Deuteronomy 5:9-10
I'm 99% sure that the lights just go out for one final time.
I have no recollection of being annoyed at having to hang around waiting to be born, so I'm pretty sure I won't mind being dead.
If there is something after, that would be interesting. I haven't done anything horrible in my life, so the concept of hell doesn't bother me. If there is a deity that insists that only those who have complied with a set of arbitrary rules are allowed into Heaven and every person who existed in the entire history of mankind and never even heard of those rules must go to Hell, then he sounds like a tyrannical, egotistical asshole, and I wouldn't want to spend eternity singing his praises in any case.
I don't think you quite understand the concept of sin. Sin must be deiliberate, and the person sinning must know they are sinning. By the day of judgement, everyone will have heard of the Lord, and those that follow his moral code to the best of their ability, create good in the world, and have faith will likely go to Heaven, and those that don't will be punished for their wickedness by being left in the prison of Hell with the Devil and his minions, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Your brain rots and all the neural connections that made you who you are disintegrate into nothing.
I think we will be walking and doing other stuff in the dark as we look at the living.
I believe that after death I will go to either Heaven, Hell, or end up waiting in Purgatory which is supposedly like a DMV office somewhere in West Texas. A lot of people don't believe in Purgatory, but I say if there ain't no Purgatory then where are all these damn ghosts coming from, huh?
... and then again maybe we get reincarnated into some other asshole whose status, class, and life circumstances are dependent upon how good, or bad we've been in this lifetime.
Regardless, I probably won't know for sure til I'm dead, and incapable of telling any of ya'll about it, and even if I can reach out with a message from beyond the grave people probably won't believe you when you tell them, because they'll just think you're crazy for believing in my ghost.

According to the good book, it's those that believe in Christ and have accepted him as their Savior. That's the only way. Now it's up to you to make the choice. If you don't believe and you're right we are both in the ground rotting away but if you're wrong ? There is no do over, to me it's not really a choice. Live your life treating people nice and the way you would want to be treated, believe in Jesus, and when I die if I'm wrong I'm in the same place as a non believer. no big deal I lived a good life.
You do need more than to simply have faith, though. As James said,
"[14] What shall it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but hath not works? Shall faith be able to save him? [15] And if a brother or sister be naked, and want daily food:
[16] And one of you say to them: Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; yet give them not those things that are necessary for the body, what shall it profit? [17] So faith also, if it have not works, is dead in itself. [18] But some man will say: Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without works; and I will shew thee, by works, my faith. [19] Thou believest that there is one God. Thou dost well: the devils also believe and tremble. [20] But wilt thou
know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
[21] Was not Abraham our father justified by works, offering up Isaac his son upon the altar? [22] Seest thou, that faith did co-operate with his works; and by works faith was made perfect? [23] And the scripture was fulfilled, saying: Abraham believed God, and it was reputed to him to justice, and he was called the friend of God. [24] Do you see that by works a man is justified; and not by faith only? [25] And in like manner also Rahab the harlot, was not she justified by works, receiving the messengers, and sending them out another way?
[26] For even as the body without the spirit is dead; so also faith without works is dead."
-James 2:14-26
I agree. That's the part of treating people as you would want to be treated. Helping the elderly, teaching the young, spreading the word, feeding the hungry. Although there are stories of death bed confessions and acceptance that priests will tell you to get to heaven including the criminal on the cross next to Jesus. He accepted Jesus as he was dying and Jesus told him he will be with him in heaven. So do you have to have works idk.
That was his work. He gained faith before almost everyone else and begged for forgiveness. This early display of faith was enough of a work that it counted. Instead of mocking him or asking him to save everyone's lives like everyone else, he showed to be a kind and wise person, by asking Jesus to save his soul after his death. Jesus saw this kind wisdom and rewarded it.
