What was the most significant decade of american film and why?
Me, personally I would say the 1970's, as it was the end of studio contracts, American audiences after the 1960's cultural revolution wanted to be challenged intellectually and there was a great audience for arthouse movies and film-makers who challenged conformity. It was a decade of counterculture and great experimentation in the medium, without so much of an emphasis on profit margins. Of course, Heaven's Gate ended all of that.
But now for your opinion, what decade do you rate the highest in terms of the amount of quality films produced during that time?
