What type of person would this type of person go for

My ex girlfriend was a clingy person that showed alot of love for me. However it wasn't a love that would be described as a good relationship. more so an obsession, and prized me more so. When i look back on it, looking at her character(clingy, desperate, abusive, needing someone to rely on, was always willing to give sex even though she just let me do what i wanted to her and she kind of just lay there, abused drugs) and makes me think of my own character and what kind of person i am. ( other things she has done: *apparently overdosed multiple times and wouldnt talk to me for a day and be okay and start talking to me again, would punch herself in the face in front of me, always threaten me with her family members, in between periods of no contact would interrogate me about who i associated with or hooked up with.)
