Lol, gotta admit I always struggle to tell the difference between the different types of metal and music in general...sometimes its hard to classify songs in certain categories...hence it really depends on the individual song 4 me.
But to name my favorites songs:

I agree with yesisbui, it usually depends on the artist, but i'm not really into death metal, its usually just a lot of that awful screaming. I do like a lot of classic bands from Metallica and Black Sabbath, Ratt, Motly Crue, Accept, Alice Cooper, and other 80s bands
Disturbed and some Slipknot is also good.
I love all metal but Glam Metal, so thank you for not listing it! (Although Motley Crue and Ratt were able to play it without sucking!)
I checked Speed Metal, and there's few things that get me moving like the OEDIVNIKUFESIN version of Anthrax's Armed and Dangerous. (It's on YouTube, so you have no excuse for not checking it out!)

I have several favorite Metal genres. I like Melodic, Thrash, Progressive, Industrial, Symphonic, Power, Death, and Doom Metal. I do like some Metalcore but it depends. (By the Way "New" Metal is actually spelled "Nu" Metal lol).
