What to call a female when you don't know her name?

I really don't know. If it's a guy, I can just say "hey, man" or "what's up, dude". I can't say "hey, woman" since that's offensive to some people, and "dude" is assumed masculine. Do I just always say "girl"?

        Not unless youre British, in the US people would look at you funny, or think youre being sarcastic.

        If I don't know someones name I don't call them anything, I just start talking by saying "excuse me--blah blah". I dislike "Miss" or " Hey You".
