What to call a female in a casual setting???

Ok, in the US, a great catch-all term for males is "guy." But the opposite of guy is "gal", but doesn't sound that great in casual situations. So, ladies/gals/women who are older than 18, what do you prefer to be called or referred to as in a casual setting? For example, fill in this blank....

"You are by far the most interesting ________ I've met at this party", or
"That ________ over there is really attractive."

Your thoughts?

Woman 3
Lady 3
Chick 5
Girl 15
Gal 2
Other 2

You are by far the most interesting _cyborg_ I've met at this party

There is some truth to that... you may as well choose a word to make that line light-hearted than say it 100% seriously to someone.

I've always said girls as the opposite of guys... i rarely ever say lady or woman unless they are like 40+... but i always say guys regardless of age...

      Beat me to it.
In addition: Hot chocolate (if she is black), Snow Bunny (if she is white) or Lil Chili (if she is latina). Use of these terms will ensure your success at getting dem thirsty bitches to back da fuq off.

It doesn't matter. I'm not bothered (anymore) by something like this nor do I have any particulars. The words spoken are those chosen by the man.

Nah, but on a serious note, I don't see what's wrong with "gals". I've known quite a few people who used that term. :)

Try "person" and I think you'll get a lot farther than any of those on your list.
It took me YEARS to learn a unoffensive compliment to a woman after this fem lib/harassment bullshit started. Being a friendly, naturally flirtatious guy, my banter became unacceptable in some circles which I unfortunately had to frequent. I was miserable when a gal took a sincere compliment as sexual harassment (angered, actually). So, after years of experimenting, I learned a compliment only the most severe man hating bull dyke (who probably wasn't dressed to deserve a compliment, anyway) could object to; that's a nice/lovely outfit!
My gawd this world has gone into the shit hole when that is the only compliment a guy can make to a woman, without possibly offending her!
    Sorry, rant over.

Are u saying that u cant even give a gal a compliment without it being classed as "sexual harrasment"?

Yeah, in the late 80's and 90's, even a benign compliment was grounds for dismissal in many of the big corporations.
An unsolicited compliment was equivalent to date rape. In the long run it did much more damage to the women's movement than any compliments could, because the women didn't stop dressing provocatively, so they became total hypocrites in the eyes of most men and the legal system.
Fucking fem libbers aren't a hell of a lot smarter than the muslim religious idiots who killed all those people at the French magazine, and turned a tiny local rag into a world wide phenomena.
"Stupid is as stupid does" it was once said by a very intelligent man.

    • I hear ya. It's frustrating. "Person" is a good neutered term, but sometimes it best fits the situation to make the reference gender specific.

IMO, in today's climate of Ms. etc. I do not believe you are correct in that assumption.
