What time do you typically eat dinner at?

I grew up with a 7pm suppertime and I thought it was normal. Several of my friends eat this late as well. Now I normally eat my last meal of the day around 9pm. My husband's family eats supper at 5pm, sometimes as early as 4pm in the afternoon, and apparently they've always done this. When they invite us over, I find the early time a tad annoying, although I'm thankful for the free meal.

What is normal? When do you eat supper?

4 - 5 pm 10
5 - 6 pm 13
6 - 7 pm 35
7 - 8 pm 21
8 - 9 pm 12
9 - 10 pm 10
I never eat supper 3

    • I'm sorry. They are considered virtually the same thing in North America.

Ohhh OK. Here in Britain supper usually refers to a snack or light meal after the main evening meal, which is called tea. It goes:
        Breakfast
        Lunch / Dinner
        Tea
        Supper

Cultural differences, no need to apologise :)

      • In Australia, supper is the meal after desert, which is after dinner.

It depends, I don't really have set meal times. If I've been to school, then I have tea as soon as I get in, because I don't eat much during the day (I don't eat dinner at school, just stuff like apples, etc.) So, about 4pm. On days where I'm not at school, it depends entirely what I've already eaten that day. I don't usually have supper, but if I do it's because I haven't had anything for tea. And even then, I can't say a time. Maybe 3 hours before I go to sleep, which I don't have a set time for either.:P

It doesn't have an exact time, but it depends on how long to cook the food. It could be ready 3 PM - 8 PM. It's rare to eat later than 7 PM, and we usually eat at 5 - 6 PM. If we're just going to get fast food, then 3 / 4 PM.

Growing up we'd always eat between 8-9pm. Mainly because my mom wouldn't get home until after 8pm, but also because my dad always wanted to cook and he's lazy.

i do dinner at about 10- 11 pm.... we have a very heavy meal in the day and also have something with tea at 6 pm so we don't feel that hunger but as it is a must so this is the common time we have it..

I never eat at certain time. In this family everyone just grabs somethong from the fridge when they're hungry any time of the day.
