What the h*!! is up with people making ugly-faces in profiles online?

I know it's been the think for some reason since Snapchat, but what's up with ugly-face on dating & other profiles? Does anyone else not find it appealing that someone who's trying to get to know you starts off with the FU finger, or a tongue stuck out so far you can nearly see his tonsils, or a face expression that looks like he's having trouble going to the bathroom?
