Nothing. Alcoholic beverages should be banned. We don't need people acting even MORE stupid than usual.
That was tried with the 18th Amenment and failed miserably. During Prohibition drunken disorderly arrests actuallyincreased.
I can't believe I'm going to say this but I agree. Why should we continue to allow people to destroy themselves with alcohol addiction? I think some people are too weak to make these decisions for themselves. I mean let's face it we don't live in a true democracy. We're not really free. Tear down the fascade. So we take away people's right to drink? How many lives are saved? How many children aren't beat by their abusive alcoholic parents? How many hit and run DUIs never happen? How many people won't need an $85,000 hepatitis cure? I feel the same way about cigarettes. Oh God don't get me started on corporate America...
all prohibition did was make the gangs stronger than ever and create a steady supply of dangerous bathtub alcohol.
You're making the same argument that the DEA makes,'' because the war on drugs is going so well''
there are countries were they execute drug dealers and it doesn't even slow the drug traffic down.
If people want to use harmful substances like booze and drugs it is impossible to stop them, its best to just try and regulate it rather than ban it.
18. If you're old enough to go to war and get killed, you should be good enough to have a beer.
I think people should be able to be resposible for their choices before they are allowed to make them so its a hard question because when your young you don't have a way to be responsible because of other laws. To change 1 law you have to change alot of others.
No matter what restriction you put on any kind of substance it is not going to stop people from getting it no matter what age or how illegal it is. It also just criminalizes non violent substance users. There is already a huge stigma attached to drugs and all it causes is misinformation and overdoses because no one was taught moderation or practical use. Yes alcohol is a drug that damages almost every cell in the body but people will still drink it no matter what. We need sensible information about substances not scare tactics. The age for alcohol is fine. 21 is fine. There are already too many restrictions on what we can put in our bodies. In new york city there are restrictions on SODA. No one should be told what they can or cannot put in their bodies.
