What sexuality do you classify someone with a fetish as?

I was wondering if someone has a fetish do they belong in the sexuality category? Since they do not exactly like a certain person but may have a infatuation with certain objects or things? Secondly I will give thumbs up for anyone who can explain the difference between a Aphrodisiac and a fetish that’s the challenge. Also an example of these type of fetishes are foot fetish when a person is only turned on by feet but not people.

O.o this question is baffling me... how could a fetish effect one's sexuality? Do you even know what sex is?

And I'm pretty sure google could tell you what an aphrodesiac is no problem, though the fact that you're mixing up those two things hurts my brain.

    • I should have given an example. Like some people have a foot fetish and only turned on by feet but not by people. They will enjoy kids feet, women’s feet, men ’s feet. They will not think of any of those people in a sexual manner but they just love feet. Some people have this kind of thing with other body parts too but it often has nothing to do with the person at all. Some have a doll fetish and only like dolls. They would never date a person and are turned on by dolls. So I mean those type of fetishes. Sorry I figured everyone would figure this out when I said fetish. I guess since there is so many types people do not think of those.

Ohhh, I see! I saw a reall weird video about that once, this one chick was in love with an amusement park ride. Like went to visit it and wanted to have sex with it... Her friend was into fences xD

Also had a friend online who was asexual, but he was into vore instead of sex.

I don't know how yous classify them, I feel like that would need its own category. The video i saw was about object love, but that wouldn't be a good catch all term either.

I kinda feel derp for being so confused on this, I was thinking like bdsm kinda fetish.

Lol, wow. Maybe you should take some psychology classes and learn a little more about how the human brain works.

If we aren't neurotic as shit then i don't know what is. Cause were pretty fuckin weird as a species.

        • They have hundreds of fetish not just S&M. Also I think S&M falls to a category all its own since you have so many subcategories to that as well.

Uh, it depends on their sexual orientation, which isn't directly related to their fetishes.

    • What about people who only are sexually attracted to objects only? Do they even count? That is related if they are not attracted to people.

      • VioletTrees

If they're only sexually attracted to objects, then none of the sexual orientations you named apply, unless they're romantically attracted to people. If that's the case, then their orientation depends on their romantic attractions.

But if they weren't attracted to people... Wouldn't that make them asexual?

It would make them aromantic, but I'm not sure how you would classify their sexuality. Ask them, I suppose. I think they could reasonably identify as asexual, though.

            • Well they still have sexual desire but not actually with a person. So I not sure if its asexual since they indeed have strong sexual desires.

              Comment Hidden ( show )
          • If you lack a sex drive or have very little and no motivation to have it with anyone or anything you are asexual. Most of these people have a very strong lust or sexual sensation to objects. So I do not believe that is the case.

I think they have their orientation on the side of the fetish. People with foot fetish only get turned on by the object, not the person it belongs to. If a male was turned on by the sight of male genitalia, then.. uhm.. Seen from one perspective, it's just the object, not the person turning him on. Then again.. eh..

              Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Aphrodisiac comes from the name of the Greek goddess of sexuality, Aphrodite. Fetish comes from Portueguese fetico, "charm, sorcery" earlier feitico, "made artfully, artificial" French: fétiche >>Latin facticius (“artificial”) and facere ("to make").

I'm guessing you mean people who only drive pleasure if their fetish is present?

An aphrodisiac is something that gets you in the mood for what you like to do, and a fetish is the thing you like to do.

"Paraphilia" is the term used to describe attraction to, amongst other things, non-human objects, like glasses or fire or stuffed animals or trousers. You could call someone who's fetish meant the were attracted to something that wasn't an object a "paraphile".

As for fetishes to do with certain human body parts, like feet or nostrils, I really have no idea what the term is, or if there is a term :P However, I think most people who are attracted to those things are selective when it comes to the gender of the body attached to them (in which case you'd call them homo/hetro/bi etc. -sexual), and the ones who aren't probably think of those body parts as separate from the human, in which case you'd call the paraphiles. I'm not sure about that last bit though :P

I disagree categorically with some of the comments about fetishes being separate from age and gender. The example given was that a person with a foot fetish is turned on by all feet, regardless of the age or gender of the foot.

Ok, maybe some people might fit that description, but not all. Other foot fetishists might have very specific interests regarding age and/or gender, and may be disinterested (or outright disgusted by) a foot that doesn't fit their fetish. For example, a man who is turned on by a young woman's feet might be very turned off by old-man feet.

I use foot fetish because that's the example given above and repeated often, but I think this holds true with any fetish, be it leather, BDSM, outdoors, voyeur, panties, hair color, or whatever floats your boat. There's a whole world of fetishists out there, and not all of them are dis-interested in age and gender to the exclusion of the fetish. IMHO. YMMV.

I've been on BDSM sites and a few of them considered themselves to be "alternative sexuality". A fetish does have an effect on what turns you on, buy sexuality wise I'm sure a person could still qualify under the list you put. For instance, you could have a latex fetish and be straight or you could have a pain fetish and be bisexual. (I hope that makes sense) Really, it depends on the person.

Dude, you can have a foot fetish and still be attracted to people, I don't see what your getting at.

Now if your question was something along the lines of, if you had a tranny fetish or some shit, then sexuality might come into play.

        • People like this do not talk about it openly unless around people with other sexual likings. I find it sad you think we do not exist. I hate to admit it but I use to be into this kind of freaky stuff. You are on a website called "Is it normal" and yet you think it is impossible for people to have different sexual likings. This is simply not the case.

Finally a story that gets my attention :D

Well as I am into animals and plushies I can say for the plushies I'm straight but because I add a personality to them to either being male or female... I don't know how it is for people being into other objects... maybe they "give" them a gender aswell...

But it may also be another category because that wouldn't fit into any of the common categories...
