I have a few, because I can be a miserable bastard:
The Gary Jules cover of Mad World.
Johnny Cash - Hurt
Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees.
Portishead - Roads.
Eva Cassidy - Autumn Leaves.
Gary Clark Jr. - When My Train Pulls In. Mmhmm! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMuiv25uhXQ
It'd be a toss up between "Morning Dew" by the Dead (first album) and "Me and Bobby McGee", sung by Janis.

My first thought was "Stand There Until You're Sober", by Bomb the Music Industry! I realise I mention Jeff Rosenstock music in every music thread, but I really love everything I've heard that he has made.

Actually I don't know if it's meant to be sad but the first time I heard it was on a video about a cat, whose owner killed himself when the cat died.. just something i felt connected with at the time..
and one of my favorite songs now, i didn't think it was sad but a friend of mine said it was..
