  • Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men (with Charlie Sheen not stupid Ashton Kutcher), and New Girl.

Glee isn't a "comedy" show, per se.

I realised that all of the comedies I wrote aren't new or current, my bad :/

Out of your selection I quite like New Girl, even though I feel like I shouldn't. Just sometimes the dialogue between the guys is gold. Zooey Deschanel is nice to look at too, but her character is a little irritating (doe-eyed naive girl-next-door type).

Outnumbered was good to begin with, the kids were hilarious. Now it's losing its charm, I think just due to the cast growing up and the novelty waring off. But first series was great.

Pretty much any show hosted by Graham Norton involving chatting is entertaining, even if the guests aren't.

The Big Bang Theory is boring to me. It tries so hard to get as many geek / sci-fi / nerd references in as possible and the whole '4 guys 1 hot girl' set-up is tiring. But it's not as bad as some other sitcoms I've seen so I can tolerate watching it.

A lot of those options I've never seen mind you.

Hard choice between Big Bang theory- ahhh I love Sheldon and New Girl, and that reminds me time to catch up...

I haven't seen or don't really watch a lot of these, but out of the ones you listed, here are my favorites.

The Big Bang Theory (great show!)
The Office (the old episodes with Michael Scott in them)
Two and a Half Men (old episodes with Charlie Sheen)
30 Rock (I don't understand much of the humor in this show, but they have some pretty funny stuff.)
How I Met Your Mother (Good moral lessons sometimes)
Parks & Recreation (what I watch when nothing else is on)

I guess animated series aren't technically considered a "comedy series," but I like the show Bob's Burgers. I didn't like it so much at first, especially the art style, but it has grown on me. The characters are such an ordinary family that I find it very relatable; it just seems "real" to me. Almost, but not quite, the way King of the Hill's characters made me feel. They also have some pretty random humor too, and the intro music is very catchy and unique.

I kind of enjoyed Bob's Burgers, but it was a weird one. It left me undecided whether I was entertained or annoyed ha :)

    • I meant to put newer shows that are currently going on, new seasons etc. Otherwise I would have definitely put it on there as well as Seinfeld.

3rd Rock From The Sun. I have all 6 seasons on DVD and I can watch them over and over again without getting bored.

While the whole cast is pretty great, John Lithgow's portrayal of the self-absorbed, narcissistic, vain, condescending High Commander is just perfect.

I used to watch the big bang theory until my ex told me she liked it. Kinda took the spark out of that one.

    Currently I like:

    Shameless
    House of Lies
    Futurama
    30 Rock
    Parks and Rec.
    An Idiot Abroad
    Archer

And thats about it for funny stuff. I also spend time with Pawn Stars, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, American Guns, Sons of Guns, American Pickers, Ghost Adventures, Paranormal State, Oddities, Through the wormhole with Morgan Freeman, The boondocks, Bleach, Sci-Fi Masters, and whatever movies are on Showtime and Cinemex since I get them both for free.

Arguably one of my favorite shows of all time (I wish movie studios would stop being pricks about Netflix and allow new releases/seasons) is Dr. Who.

Best American stand-up comic alive IMO.

If you like him I suggest you watch Louie if you haven't already. It's starring him but as a slightly exaggerated version of himself. :D

I hardly watch TV anymore so I don't have a favorite Comedy Series that's new or recent but if I can pick an older one it would without a doubt be Married with Children. Married with Children is a legend in Comedy Sitcoms. The show is one of the longest running Live Action Comedy Shows in TV History and was highly praised for its innovative style of humor.

Many Comedy Shows you'll watch will usually have a cast portraying a family/group who are all good people and have their share of misfortunes. Married with Children on the other hand, showcases the corruption in everyone and everything humorously in the show. I never thought I'd laugh so much at people constantly being selfish, greedy, stupid, evil and insane towards each other.

I just love Married with Children to death.

    The Big Bang Theory

But I can not watch the marathons, Sheldon's voice and style of speech REALLY annoy the piss out of me after a while. But he's my favorite character, haha.

I also enjoy 30 Rock sometimes.

I can't believe what they did to Scrubs. I watched it for years and still can't get used to the lack of JD. I don't miss Elliot, and I hated JD but he practically made the show for me. They made Dr. Cox such a pussy v.v And Turk just seems... weird without JD *and* Carla. I like the new cast but they just don't have the chemistry that the old cast did.

Plus, JD illustrating the moral lessons made the episodes very... trippy. Great to smoke to.

And I have not seen the new Two and a Half Men. Something tells me that it just won't be the same without the womanzing asshole that is Charlie Sheen. He was 90% of the reason that I watched the show. I don't know how the writers were able to make Sheen's logic seem so sane but they did it. And I hate Ashton Kutcher.

I used to love The Office, but like any show that goes on for 7 seasons, it's quality has depreciated. Not that the new episodes are bad- I just don't watch because they make me sad by reminding me how good the show used to be. Same with The Simpsons.

  • Honestly when I started making the poll I realized there are way too many shows so I narrowed it down. I also left out animated comedies. I decided to add UK comedies so I just couldn't do it all.

    Green Wing
    Peep Show
    The Office (UK)
    Extras
    Summer Heights High
    IT Crowd
    Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
    The Mighty Boosh (1st series)

I mostly enjoy UK comedies - US comedies are usually too cheesy, obvious or boring for me. Non-English language television doesn't really get aired here in Britain (unfortunately), but I'd love some non-English recommendations from you people if you have any?
