What's walmart like?

I live in the UK and I like exotic meats but it's not that easy to purchase things of an "exotic" nature. Is it true that walmart has everything from guns to kangaroo stakes?

Walmart if a place of wonder 7
Walmart has the same range as UK shops 3
Walmart is full of obese scooter riding people and it smells 11
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

It’s kind of like a mart, but with walls.

Honestly, Walmart is the twilight zone. It's impossible to describe it.

All walmarts sell the same products, but the degree to which any one Walmart collects the dregs of humanity differs so much by location and it differs in ways that make no sense.

I've been to small town walmarts that seemed perfectly normal, bougie town walmarts that were crawling with people of Walmart: scooties, flesh colored leggings, exposed ass cheeks, rasict tattoos. I could not figure out where they all came from either, because surely I would have noticed such characters around town, but they all materialized out of ether at this one location.

And a perfectly normal Walmart during the day can suddenly devolve into a freakshow after dusk.

There is no rhyme or reason to what horrors you can find at any given Walmart, but when you do find the right Walmart, in the right place and time to see the walmart freaks...it is a fucking treat. It's one of the best attractions you can experience in America.

I am very hesitant to say this, but I would like to personally endorse CD's recommendation for the vibrant horrors of humanity on display at Walmart. I go there only when I have not shaved in two days. Then, I'll take a quick shower, mess up my hair, and put on a dirty T shirt and jeans from the laundry basket to wear. This minimizes the stigma that I get for looking intelligent.

When my shopping is complete, I not only feel entertained, but I can see that American income inequality promotes creative adaptation. Fun is where you find it. By the way, the Walmart bakery section is surprisingly good.

I wish supermarkets here were this entertaining...

I've been in Germany for 10 years now and the most extreme things I've seen are:

      1. A stoner with the munchies buying snacks in bulk.
      2. An angry mother who spanked her kid's bottom 3 times.
      3. A woman who was furious I parked in a "Women only" parking space (What a bigot, maybe I was getting in touch with my feminine side and that's why I parked there... Maybe I was too lazy to look for another space. Maybe she was so annoying my (usually) mild mannered girlfriend/ fiancee flipped her off)

No fat people arguing, no fights over products, no Karens, no youtubers, nothing.

Kinda wish I could experience Walmart for myself. Never got the chance... When I was in the US, I stayed at a friend's place and we drove around in an RV, but everything was stocked and ready, so we never went to a supermarket. Maybe next time I visit the States...

I like Wal-Mart pretty well and live across the highway from one, so shop there frequently. I've never seen kangaroo steaks there.

Mine unfortunately doesn't keep things in stock very well, which is very annoying, but they have pretty good prices and a pretty decent selection of the things I need. I actually really like the food they cook in the deli and bakery there, and think it's much better than the "high end" grocery store where I live, whose food is very bland IMO. Wal-Mart especially has great rotisserie chicken.

The people definitely vary. There are all kinds of people there. While there are of course some rude people there like with any store, it doesn't compare at all to the snooty store I worked in as a teen in the more "uppity" area I lived in at the time, where many of the customers were extremely rude and entitled.

They sell guns at my walmart but no longer carry ammo to "fight against gun violence"

Walmart sucks. Well the physical stores do. Cheap goods at low low prices sounds good until your stuff breaks or gives you diabetes.

I fucking hate Walmart. Shits never organized. And yes, fat people on scooters, but Walmart already smells so it’s hard to smell people individually.

I’ve never seen ‘roo steak at Walmart, and it’s very condescending to characterize all the shoppers as smelly obese invalids. Most are family people trying to get value for what little money they make. It sounds like the poster may be a Brit snob.

It wholeheartedly depends on when, where, and how you visit walmart. At its best it is a place where you can procure goods at a very affordable price. They are competitive with amazon, but they will litterally put your online orders in the trunk of your car and you don't have to overpay as with delivery services, and you don't risk coming in contact with non mask wherers during the pandimic. If you are in a city.

On the flip side one could argue that it is nothing but a ridiculously efficient purveyor of mostly foreign goods that ruins small town businesses.

There are poor americans that both benefit and are hurt by that. There is a cliche of uneducated and uncultured people that frequent walmart and I suppose they are of whom some of you are getting off on judging and humiliating.

I've never seen kangaroo steaks at Walmart.

Walmart has good prices and it's fun to shop at when it's early, like 7am-11am. Any later than that, I always wind seeing something or someone weird.

It's a good thing you didn't see anything weird at your Walmart.

The things I've seen and experienced at Walmart over the years were just dumb. Things like:

        - Naked old people
        - Obese people screaming at employees and sometimes throwing stuff at them because the snack they "need" isn't in stock
        - People threatening me over the last package of limited edition Oreos(same thing happened with a box of Marshmallow Rice Crispies Treats cereal)
        - People fighting each other over something dumb like someone looking at them the wrong way
        - Menstrual blood on the shopping cart handle
        - Shit smeared letters on the mirrors in the women's rest room
        - People pulling their pants down and urinating in the aisles
        - Parents beating the shit out of their kids
        - People trying to fight the security guards after they get caught stealing
        - Walmart employees who took their job too seriously and heckled customers who worked at Target, Homegoods, Food Bazzar, or any of the other local stores. This last one is the reason why I don't go there in my Target clothing.

There's more, but I'd be here typing forever. These are mostly Walmarts in the not so safe towns, btw. XD

A few years ago, I applied to work at Walmart as a second job. They didn't want me because apparently wanting to work for both Target and Walmart is a "conflict of interest". XD

I mean what would you call "cheap" jerky. Jerky is inherently an expensive snack. Like is a 10$ bag cheap?

Jerky over here is about £4 per 100g. It's sooo expensive. Idk per bag, but if a bag works out at 500g then that's damn good.

Pound of jerky is like 15 bucks so I guess it's around the same price as other countries.

Most of the weight of meat is water so it's going to be ofcourse more expensive than regular meat pound per pound.

Then again we still hunt a lot in the usa so you can get pretty cheap game jerky if you know a guy. Hell my jerky supplier is a family friend and we get a few pounds every holiday in exchange for wreaths.
