What's the point of texting ''i miss you?''

Why do people do this? It's counterproductive. I'm talking about scenarios where your ex texts you this after over a year even though you know you can't be together. I used to go out with a girl five months ago and she said no, just texted me something like ''I miss you, I just wanted you to know that, good night'' right now, what's the point of that? it just makes the other person feel bad most times, why do you do this? Is it normal?

Haha I'm guilty. I texted my ex after we'd been broken up for a year and a half telling her I still loved her and thought about her all the time. You're right it's pointless, but carrying it around with you so long without expreSsing it becomes like an eternal ache

While it is pointless, people do it because they still have feelings for their exs and feel vulnerable/ like they have to get it off their chest.

I think it's a thing where the person sending the text just wants to vent and express him or herself. I haven't really done it much. I feel too vulnerable and exposed, and there's the ever present fear that the person will tell me to piss off.

I guess, I tend try to put myself I the other person's shoes, also lots of breakups tend to be not quite on the best terms.

    Its a caring thing :)

Its not supposed to make you feel bad. Its supposed to make you feel wanted.

It's one of those abbreviations used when texting. The full text is:

"I missed you, but I'm getting the sights on my rifle fixed tomorrow"

Supposedly it means you miss someone with my experience. Don't be a fool and get taken advantage of.

It sounds like one of those ultra cute sickening bullshit things that couples having "issues" will do. Next time that it happens just text back: "Please knock off the bullshit. Fuck you, and good bye." That ought to do it.

Because some bitches like to play mind games.
    Just that simple.
She likes messing with your head.
Block her and chase something fresh.
    Think I'm wrong?
Take her up on the miss you bit.
    1 she'll shoot you down.
    Or
2 you get back together, and regret it.

it may be because, you know, the person actualy misses you? like he/she want's to see you again, you don't have to take it badky or feel bad about it, you also don't need to feel the same. if you don't miss them, telk the you don't feel exactly the same way
